St. Pierre opens up as -225 favorite over Johny Hendricks (+175)
Quickly after Georges St. Pierre’s (24-2, 18-2 in UFC) recent win in Montreal, his next fight has already opened up to the odds books. Johny Hendricks (15-1, 10-1 in UFC) who recently defeated Carlos Condit (28-7, 5-3 in UFC) by decision at UFC 158, was labeled the number one contender by UFC president Dana White.
Now BestFightOdds.com has this bout listed under ‘Future Events’, with St. Pierre as a -225 favorite over the +175 Hendricks.
Of course in mixed martial arts any fighter can win a given fight with a punchers chance, but with Hendricks’ incredible power and relentless attack both on his feet and on the canvas, this fight should be considered a winnable one for ‘Bigg Rigg’.
St. Pierre has been so widely successful at neutralizing opponents’ strengths and wearing them down with relentless takedowns. Taking down Hendricks won’t be the same task as putting Nick Diaz on his back. And on the feet, the Oklahoman’s power is much more of a pressing threat than most of St. Pierre’s previous opponents.
But with no set date for this fight, and now reports of a six month layoff for St. Pierre, a lot lies between today and the day both these welterweights duke it out inside the Octagon.

i really think hendricks wil get the win
This is gonna be bad ass!
I think Hendricks will shock the world and beat GSP. His power is just too good. You see some of those shots Hendricks took against Condit? Shit, and he still stood tall and won(though Condit shockingly had a great chin to stand with Hendricks like he did!). GSP has been knocked out before, has shown weakness at being knocked down or knocked out previously in the Condit fight, and I think just one or two powerful punches right to GSP’s mug will knock him out or knock him down. If he gets knocked down, then Hendricks will wrestle him to keep him down and pound him into a TKO victory. I truly do not see GSP winning this one from a technical standpoint.
Johnys gonna find out real quick that he won’t be rushing in with the big left hand. The first time he tries it Georgie will shoot for the powerful double leg and little Johny will be flat on his back like all GSPs previous opponents.hendricks barely won his fight against Koscheck IMO,and he was pretty much gassed after the third round with Condit so he’d better work on that issue if he thinks he’s gonna beat the best WW in the world!
GSP will win. Hendricks is a one trick pony. Nobody in their right mind could put a penny on that defeating the greatest welterweight fighter in history. Anyone who says GSP is boring is right. Because consistency is boring. However technical masterclasses are the sum of every one of his fights.
GSP has never fought a wrestler of Hendricks pedigree.
If anyone can handle or neutralize GSP’s wrestling to some degree it will be Hendricks.
I think Johnny can take this one, it will be a interesting fight.
Exactly. Hendricks has the best wrestling in the WW division. GSP cannot beat him in that aspect, which means Hendricks’ punch will become even more dangerous. If anyone’s going to be on top, it’s Hendricks. The guy has like a 300-1 amateur wrestling record.
