Spike TV Set To Counter Program UFC on FOX 1 With Velasquez vs. Dos Santos Marathon

Don’t be fooled MMA fans…
On November 12 Spike TV is launching a UFC special titled “Velasquez vs. Dos Santos” that will air during the UFC on Fox event featuring “Velasquez vs. Dos Santos”.
This is only the latest, and probably not the last time that the rift between the UFC and their current (soon to be former) broadcast partners put their beef on full display for the world to see.
Spike TV holds the licensing for all of the past UFC events up until the end of 2012 and unless the UFC buys those rights from them the crafty guys at Spike will probably continue to attempt and garner ratings of their own through the UFC media library.
Kicking off at the same exact time as the UFC on Fox 1 event, Spike TV plans on highlighting the careers of both Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos by showcasing their past fights that lead them on the path that they are currently on.
The three hour event will kick off at 9 p.m. and run through midnight.
The real “Velasquez vs. Dos Santos” event is titled UFC on Fox 1 and it is set to take place on November 12 from the Honda Center in Anaheim California. The historic event will feature a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos for Free on FOX TV.
The relationship between Spike and the UFC was further damaged when the UFC showed little interest in buying their library from the cable television channel. Spike TV has come to terms to start airing Bellator events, however, under their current deal with the UFC they cannot do so until 2013 or until the UFC buys back their library. More than likely the stern business men over at ZUFFA opted to keep the library rights over there for a year just to keep other MMA programming off of the network.
Spike TV’s full Nov. 12 schedule includes:
9 p.m. ET/PT
• Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader
• Junior Dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin
• Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar
10 p.m. ET/PT

• Thiago Silva vs. Keith Jardine
11 p.m. ET/PT
• Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira

Thats funny..but isn’t Fox network on basic cable? Not like you need some special tv package to get it. Spikes marathon will probably have poor ratings.
good for spike, they’re gonna have to make as much money as they can before their time is up lol
Spikes last attempt at ratings before they fold…….sad to see….good for FOX
Good list of fights on spike, but no one will miss Cain lay a whoopin junior FOX!
I GUESS I’LL BE SWITCHING CHANNELS BACK AND FORTH.LOL
c’mon spike quitting acting like bitches! can’t blame the UFC for wanting to move onto a bigger better sporting program. UFC did a lot for spike and spike did a lot for UFC but it’s time to move on.
feel sorry for cain having to highlight the fox premier. now even more people will see him get crushed
Good it is on fox, now all the latina fans don’t have to worry about coughing up $50 to see their favorite get knocked out..
haha dana getting a dose of his own medicine. im sure by doing this spikes gonna pull at least a million viewers away from watching jds velasquez on fox, not me but a lot of others.
Some of heavyweights should go down at 205 against Jones!
That’s just ridiculous..Jones needs to go to HW.
