Soto replaces Eduardo at UFC 139
We received word today that Johnny Eduardo (25-9 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will have to withdraw from his UFC 139 fight due to a shoulder injury. Replacing him will be the undefeated Alex Soto (6-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who will be making his first UFC appearance as he steps in to take on fellow bantamweight Michael McDonald (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC).
Officials have confirmed the replacement although they have not yet officially announced the switch. McDonald gave us first wind of the change via his Twitter account.
UFC 139 is set to take place on November 19th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
While the main card airs on pay-per-view, Soto vs. McDonald will more than likely be placed on the portion of the car expected to stream on the always reliable Facebook.
The 20-year-old McDonald is 2-0 in the UFC and only has one professional loss notched on his record (which he later avenged). Standing opposite of him will be the unbeaten Soto, who is looking to make a huge splash in the organization as he makes his debut in the big-show. This fight will definitely be one to look forward to as both fighters are hungry to prove that they are indeed at the top of the bantamweight world rankings.
Here is what the UFC 139 card now looks like:
