Silva on Rousey v Cyborg: I Believe This Fight Needs to Happen

A match-up between Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg has been everything lately: rumor, fact, and fiction. It’s been brought up everywhere and shut down almost instantly. Out of all the things that fans have been hearing about this, one word that has yet to be attached to this idea is the word “owed.” Now we have it. Former UFC Middleweight champion and MMA legend Anderson Silva spoke to Combate about Ronda Rousey and Cyborg possibly clashing heads and said that he felt that Dana “owed it to the fans.” Below is a translated piece from the interview.

“I believe this fight needs to happen. The Ronda is a great fighter. But Cris has 90 % chance of winning the round. She trains hard and has all the features and appropriate techniques to win the round. This fight needs to happen, because Dana White owes it to the audience; the UFC.”

Few fighters have taken the time to way in on what seems to be a fan desire and a rumor that won’t fizzle out. Anderson Silva is certainly a huge voice in the UFC, and could possibly have enough pull to convince a more in depth look at the fight.

How do you feel about Ronda and Cyborg? Should fans let this showdown go or do you think it is owed to see these two ladies duke it out in the Octagon?
