Silva needs a new opponent for UFC Fight Night 36
Silva was set to face fellow welterweight Nate Loughran at UFC Fight Night 36. But MMAJunkie learned yesterday that Loughran has been forced to withdraw from the fight and the hunt is on for a new opponent for Silva.
UFC Fight Night 36 takes place Feb. 15 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Caarina, Brazil. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1, and prelims stream on UFC Fight Pass. The main event is Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi,
Loughran hasn’t fought for the UFC since asking for his release in 2008. He rattled off nine straight wins, including a UFC debut win over Johnny Rees, to start his pro career. Loughran suffered an injury against Tim Credeur in a December 2008 contest and quit on the stool before the start of the third round and later asked for his release from the promotion to focus on life outside of the cage. Loughran didn’t compete until March 2012, when he earned a split-decision win over Jamie Jara in California.
Silva is coming off an upset loss to Dong Hyun Kim in October.
As of now, UFC Fight Night 36 lineup includes:
Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi
