UFC officials announced today that Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Dan Henderson will headline UFC Fight Night 38 on March 23 in a rematch of what was one of the best fights in the history of MMA.
UFC officials confirmed rumors regarding the card, including its headline fight and the location.  The card will take place March 23 at the Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Brazil, and it will air live on FOX Sports 1.

Rua and Henderson fought once before at UFC 139 where the two put on an incredible five-round fight.  Many sources named their first fight the “Fight of the Year” for 2011.

Rua (22-8) comes into this fight off a first-round KO over James Te Huna at UFC Fight Night 33.  Prior to that bout, ‘Shogun’ had two consecutive losses.  The win over Te Huna ended speculations that Rua was near retirement following a lackluster performance against Alexander Gustafsson and a submission loss to Chael Sonnen.  Against Henderson, ‘Shogun’ will be looking to carry his momentum and advance in the light heavyweight division.

Since his victory over ‘Shogun,’ Dan Henderson (29-11) has lost three consecutive fights.  Most recently, Henderson lost to top-ranked middleweight contender Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 32 by way of a vicious head kick.  Before that, Henderson lost two split decision victories to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans.

Both fighters are coming into this fight with a lot on the line – not to mention the incredible expectation that this rematch live up to the first fight.  Fans will have to wait and see, but it can be expected that these two veteran fighters will come prepared for another five-round battle come March 23.
