Shogun Rua vs. Alexander Gustafsson Booked For UFC on FOX 5 Dec. 8 | UFC News

Two top Light-Heavyweights are set to collide at UFC on FOX 5 as Shogun Rua meets Alexander Gustafsson. The bout is set to take place on December 8th however the location has still to be named according to USA Today.
In his last bout Shogun defeated Brandon Vera in a well contested bout with Rua eventually getting the stoppage in the fourth round due to strikes. Shogun was in the running for a title shot at either current Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones or challenger Dan Henderson depending on the result at UFC 151. However he was pipped at the post by Lyoto Machida who knocked out Ryan Bader.
Gustafsson in his last bout defeated Thiago Silva at UFC on Fuel TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva back in April. ‘The Mauler’ is also currently on a five fight winning streak with four finishes and a win over the former champion Shogun could put him at number two in the line for a shot at the belt after Machida.

I think henderson takes this fight by a UD. Also gustafasson takes it by UD. I think both fifmghts are gonna end up being in decision.

I like Gustafsson, but don’t see why everyone thinks Gustafsson is just going to beat Shogun up. Who has Gus beaten so far? This will be his first real test.
If Shogun shows up without the spare tire around his waist I see him knocking out Gustafsson.
I guess will see if Gus is ready to take it to the next level, Shogun better be in shape for this one unlike the Vera fight or he will get demolished.

This is going to be the passing of the torch for shogun. this young guy has really been impressive and if he has heart I think it just might happen. Rua is a beast but a worn out Brandon Vera gave him four rounds and this dude is young and hungry.
This is going to be to see who fights the winner of Jones/hendo vs. Machida.. Also a test for Gustafsson to show he is a top contender but also a test for Shogun to prove he still one of the best LHW against a hungry young guy!
finally putting Gustafsson in the mix! love shogun but Gustafsson will take this one. his footwork is too good to just get caught by shogun. if Gustafsson wins he will most likely deserve the next shot after machida gets his. overall what a stacked card, finally UFC putting something together. to be honest all these Fuel & FX free fights suck a donkey dick, i dont even get excited like i used to be. Its almost an overload of too many fights with the majority of them being shitty fights. I was perfectly fine with the PPV only fights here & there. Cant blame them for wanting to expand the sport tho.

Not going to be easy but should pull it off… shogun has learned alot from bones/hendo fights… who has gustaffson fought???? thiago silva, probably the hardest fight for him to date… Rua’s fight resume speaks for him… Im just waiting to see him back to himself like the Pride days… Ohh.. and Penn is the baddest F*CKING lightweight there ever will be that has also been an ex welter weight champ too, but Rory is a young talent that has beaten top contenders.. BJ has to beat Rory because these last fights for BJ are important, however its not going to be easy and if McDonald can get the win, it will be a big career win over a legend in the UFC… DIAZ!!!! Get him carnal!! Arriba La RAZA!!!!
