Shogun Moves Camps Again: Not Training At Kings MMA For Fight With Dan Henderson

“We don’t see any advantage at this moment to feed our opponents information about the work we’ve been developing, This is a work philosophy we’ve adopted at other times, and now we’ve decided to do it again. It’s nothing to do with the fans, and we understand their hunger for news. At the right time, further information will be given, but I can’t give up on what we decided and agreed to do.”
Shogun Rua recently reunited with his long-time coach Rafael Cordeiro in preparation for his bout with Forrest Griffin at UFC Rio.
Many, including Shogun, credit Cordeiro for making him the fighter he is today. With fighters like Wanderlei Silva, Fabricio Werdum, Mark Munoz, Jason Miller and many more stand-outs it seemed like just the change the former champ needed to return to his former self.
So why the change?
Shogun manager, Eduardo Alonso tells sherdog.com that he prefers to remain silent on their decision and only stated that they will return to Sao Paulo, where Rua trained in 2009 for his UFC 79 win over Chuck Liddell.
Kings MMA resides in Orange County California; and Dan Henderson’s training center is about an hour away in the Inland Empire. Both Jason Miller and Krzysztof Soszynski train at the Huntington Beach location but also have a good relationship with Henderson as former training partners. This conflict may have prompted the move, but who really knows.
