Shawn Jordan In For Big Nog Against Kongo At UFC 149 | UFC NEWS

In case you missed the news, former UFC interim heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was forced to withdraw from his scheduled UFC 149 appearance against Cheick Kongo.
Still going through the rehabilitation process for his broken arm suffered at the hands of Frank Mir, the Brazilian fan favorite is unable to commit to the fight.
In his place comes the always tough Shawn Jordan.
UFC 149 goes down from Calgary, Alberta, Canada’s Scotiabank Saddledome on July 21. After losing the main event between Aldo and Koch, Urijah Faber will fight Renan Barao for the UFC’s interim bantamweight title.
This newly agreed upon bout between Kongo and Jordan will be featured on the main card.
Kongo (17-7-2) is coming off a loss to Mark Hunt at the recent UFC 144 event in Japan which snapped a four fight unbeaten run (3-0-1).
Jordan comes into the UFC as part of the Strikeforce acquisition and successfully made his UFC debut against Oli Thompson at UFC on FX 2 this past March.
The UFC 149 lineup now looks as follows:
MAIN CARD: (Pay-per-view)
Urijah Faber vs. Renan Barao (for interim bantamweight title)
Tim Boetsch vs. Hector Lombard
Shawn Jordan vs. Cheick Kongo*

PRELIMINARY CARD: (FX)

Why is congo still here!
hes only lost once in his last five fights no reason to cut him, not to mention you need guys like Kongo either he beats you and it proves your not a top guy, or you beat Kongo and that usually means you are, and overall hes 10-3-1 in the UFC, there are so many guys worse then that. Imo he is the perfect gatekeeper

That fight card looks so boring
Flexible Positions
If they don’t get a real main event in there this event could do very very bad. The way it is now not many people will buy it.
I precisely had to thank you so much once more. I’m not certain the things I could possibly have tried without the entire tips and hints shared by you directly on this subject matter. It actually was the troublesome setting in my opinion, but encountering your specialised way you handled that made me to cry for fulfillment. Now i am grateful for the service and as well , wish you know what a powerful job your are getting into teaching many others through the use of your blog. I am sure you haven’t encountered any of us.
Dana promised a ‘sick’ card in Calgary…you can say that again, the entire lineup has been changed due to injury. UFC 149 officially sux ass now – people are giving those tickets away.
The casual fans might pass this up.
Well said man! BTW – excited as **** to see Lombard’s UFC debut….
Just wanna remark that you have a very nice web site , I love the pattern it actually stands out.
Hardcore fans too. I`ve been down with MMA since it all began and also train MMA. But from where the card was to what it is now…it`s like a lottery. There`s very little there to justify a $700 ticket here – when the tickets were bought it was a completely different show. People are pissed.
this card couldn’t have gotten more ****ed up this shit isn’t gona sell they should make it a free card
that and ufc 147
Shawn Jordan will destroy Kongo. Book it. Kid is a freak athlete for 245. Very very strong and a good striker!
Shawn Jordan will definitely entertain the crowd! Looking forward to watching this one!!
