Sara McMann has withdrawn from her August UFC Fight Night 27 fight against Sarah Kaufman, it was reported Monday night. Sources close to the UFC women’s bantamweight fighter said she was forced out of the fight for undisclosed reasons, MMAJunkie.com reported.
McMann (7-0) was making her second appearance in the UFC, her debut fight resulting in a first-round TKO victory over Shiela Gaff at UFC 159. The Olympic silver medalist has maintained an undefeated record while fighting for Strikeforce, Invicta and now the UFC.
Her would-be opponent, Sarah Kaufman (16-2) is set to make her UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 27. In her last five fights, her only defeat was at the hands of current UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey.
The UFC has not announced a replacement to fight Kaufman.
UFC Fight Night 27 is set to take place August 28 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Kaufman-McMann fight was set for the main card, which will air on FOX Sports 1.
