Sam Stout vs. Thiago Tavares Set For UFC 142 In Brazil

UFC officials took to twitter this afternoon to announce a lightweight bout between the rising Sam Stout and Thiago Tavares.
UFC 142 is expected to go down on Jan. 14 from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. However, the event itself has yet to be officially announced by the UFC. Featherweights Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes are set for a title fight in what will either be the main or co-main event of the evening.
Sam Stout last saw action at UFC 131 where he was able to score a vicious knock out win over Yves Edwards. The win marked his fourth in his last five outings with the lone loss coming way of Jeremy Stephens at UFC 113 via split decision.
Tavares recently notched his first win of 2011 in the UFC’s inaugural trip to Rio against Spencer Fisher. This 11-fight UFC veteran has had mixed results since entering the Octagon having won just six fights since his time with the promotion.
