Saitama Super Arena To Host UFC’s Return To Japan On Feb. 26, 2012

The long rumored return to Japan has been booked and confirmed by UFC officials.

The news was released by the UFC via twitter overnight.

No bouts have been announced to coincide with the organizations return to Japan, however, the UFC currently holds native stand-outs such as Yushin Okami, Hatsu Hioki, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Takanori Gomi and Kid Yamamoto as well as PRIDE stars known throughout the region like, Wanderlei Silva, Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rua, Mirko Cro Cop and the Nogueira brothers.

The rumored signing of Japanese Superstar, Alistair Overeem could also impact the level of the show’s success.

The UFC last saw Japanese soil at UFC 29 back in 2000.

UFC officials went into further detail on the event during today’s UFC 137 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas and clarified that the event will air Sunday morning at 10 a.m. local time in order to accommodate the North American television Audience.
