Rumor | Jose Aldo To Defend UFC Featherweight Title At UFC 149 In Calgary

One of the sport’s top pound-for-pound fighters, Jose Aldo, is reportedly going to return to action on July 21 when the UFC heads to Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 21 for UFC 149.
While the company has to announce the show as finalized, a special press conference today is supposed to announce the show as official. However, it is unlikely that they will announce Aldo’s participation during today’s event.
The Brazilian based fighter boasts a 21-1 professional MMA record and is currently riding a 14-fight winning streak. He last saw action taking out the previously undefeated Chad Mendes at UFC 142 in the very first round to earn his fifth straight title defense (3 UFC and 2 WEC).
It is unclear who the UFC has left on the roster to challenge the champion. With most of the top contenders booked up, the one sole opponent that makes sense is Japanese standout Hatsu Hioki who remains the number two-ranked featherweight in the world on most ranking systems but lacks in UFC experience.
If rumor holds true we will have answers shortly.
Stay Tuned.

I would still love to see Aldo vs Edgar or Aldo vs Pettis, but if it has to be someone who is already a fw then i think The Korean zombie would be my choice if he wins his next fight, i would like to see him try to walk through Aldo’s punches and kicks.
Korean zombie got KO ‘d by George room with a switch kick -_- he’s the only guy left besides hioki that makes sence
I WANNA SEE ALDO FIGHT DUSTIN & KOCH.
You’ve gotta be kidding. This fight should be here in Japan or in Brazil. But whatever. It wouldn’t hurt the fights set in Canada.

He’s probably fighting Hioki and Aldo is going to wreck him.. Really, what’s Hioki going to do? He can’t take Aldo down and on the feet Aldo is several levels above him.
@THOM BJJ
u never know what’s gonna happen.
I got my money on Aldo but I vantage count Hioki out. He’s the number 2 ranked featherweight for a reason.
I’m not talking about the garbage Hioki against Roop. I’m talking about the Hioki against Sandro and Palaszewski. I was on the UFC Japan event and the guy just looked like a monster.
It just really depends in what kind of Hioki is gonna show up.
I vantage Hioki out.
“*you can’t count Hioki out**
Damn, what’s wrong with my fingers and the auto correct of my iPhone
TKZ vs Dustin Poirier at UFC on Fuel 3 was announced as a featherweight title eliminator, but there’s not nearly enough time for the winner of that fight to turn around and fight again on 7/21. It’s gotta be Hioki with the winner of Hioki/Aldo fighting the winner of TKZ/Poirier.
I say winner of Poirier and Zombie fights Hioki for number one contender. Anyone else agree?
seeing as aldo is set to fight at ufc 149 thats obviously not going to happen.. itll either be hioki or the korean zombie and neither of them will make it out of the first round.
Hioki openly said after the Palaszewski fight that he’s not ready to take on Aldo, he needs a hella lot more training. Erik koch is on a 4 fight win streak…..seems plausible.
