"Rumble" Johnson: The UFC Should Have Called Me To Fight Jon Jones | UFC NEWS

“They should have called me when Dan Henderson got hurt. I would have taken that fight, no problem. I wouldn’t have said no. I’ll fight anybody. It doesn’t matter when or where. They could throw me in with Joe Shmo, and I would fight him. It doesn’t matter to me… So many guys want to be champions, and they train and pray and damn near die to get in the position that he’s in. When you get to that position, you’re not supposed to say ‘No’ to competition. You’re the champion for a reason. You’re supposed to say, ‘Ok, let’s do it. I accept every challenge there is out there.’ Who cares if it was eight days notice. You’re supposed to be well prepared for everything, no matter what. That showed me that he wasn’t prepared. He wasn’t ready for whatever was going to be thrown at him. I personally think he was a little confused and shaken up by the whole situation, and seeing how Chael has great cardio, and continually moves forward, I think that worried Jon. Chael comes to fight. He doesn’t play around. It is what it is, and only Jon and his trainers really know why they made that decision.”

Former UFC welterweight now turned 205’er, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, recently sat down with Steph Daniels of to talk about his time as a Blackzilian and his new career as a light-heavyweight fighter making his way back to the big show from the regional scene.

It’s a great interview, but this snip is by far the most interesting.

  1. Nando says:

    You wouldn’t have made weight…

  2. magoo says:

Yea not sure why they didn’t offer it to you Rumble….after your last UFC fight with Vitor one would think they would be begging you to come in and fight Jones for the LHW title. JBJ would annihilate your over rated, over weight ass, your just another fighter that loves to hear himself talk!

  3. DMAC says:

Ain’t nobody trying to see Rumbles overweight low gas tank self. Of course these dudes will take a fight anytime anywhere, they need the money and there not Champs.

  4. Bobby says:

His last fight in the UFC was loss to Vitor so that would make no sense.

  5. rumble says:

    pay me anything!
    I’ll fight the janitor!

    • JayCee says:

We are ALL LAUGHING at RUMBLE! he’s had his chance…his last fight in the UFC was a DISGRACE to come in that overweight after moving up a class because he had problems making at the lower weight…

  6. Don't hate says:

Hahaha Anthony you ate the schmo you are going to 205 cause you fat homie and of course you take the fight lol is take the fight if they called and I dont fight lol but guess what we had the same chance of gettin that fight you’d be lucky if they gave you the lowest 205 on the ranking atm ya stupid ass

  7. JoeyV says:

This just seems like someone who used to be relevant saying something that would have had no bearing on the fight to begin with, saying something long after the fact to put his name back out there. Poor attempt at publicity.

  8. Xaninho says:

eah he would have taken the fight at HW weighing in at 240 lbs.

  9. WTF says:

What’s with the Rumble hate? He’s doing well now, I’m happy for him.

  10. Ddddddd says:

Man Rumble was an easy target

  11. Bjj BB says:

Screw this faggot. Jon Bones Jones is like god. Jon BJ would whip his ass, and send him packing back to Bellator

  12. Hjortur Halldorsson says:

I would love to see Rumble back in the UFC as a LHW. I really like his fighting style and his fights are most of the time very entertaining. Of course it’s very annoying when he doesn’t make weight every other time he fights, but nonetheless I definitely like him has a fighter. He’s finally fighting in his weigh class so making 205 shouldn’t be a problem. How he ever made 170 is beyond me, because he’s both tall and massive, at least his upper body is.

Jon Jones would destroy him in the ring but I believe he would cause problems to most of the fighters in the UFC LHW division.

And to you guys who call him fat, I have no idea how you can say that because he’s always ripped in his fights. He has teddy bear cheeks when he’s not fighting but come fight night he’s always ripped even if he doesn’t make weight.

    • life is meh says:

People hate on him because he has come in over-weight a comical number of times, not because he has any fat. I dont hate Rumble, but I mean come on. It’s like if your boss tells you “Be at the meeting at 10″ so you decide to come in at 11:30. Its ridiculous.

  13. Domo says:

I didn’t like him with the whole overweight fiasco in his fight against Vitor Belfort.

In his interviews now, he really has owned up to his issues and he actually was hurting his health cutting so much weight in years before. He couldn’t do it anymore but he kept trying anyways. He seems like a really good guy, just misunderstood. He belongs at LHW.
