Rousey puts ‘Mr. Tate’ on blast
As if it didn’t irk Ronda Rousey enough that rival Miesha Tate was hand-picked by UFC brass to replace an injured Cat Zingano as her opposing coach on The Ultimate Fighter 18, the fact that Tate’s boyfriend, UFC fighter Brian Caraway could be along for the ride just adds salt to her wound.
While Rousey and Tate have traded barbs for awhile, the reigning UFC’s women’s bantamweight champ dislikes Caraway – or Mr. Tate, as she calls him – even more.
MMA Junkie caught up with Rousey, who had plenty to say about Caraway:
“Miesha by herself isn’t that bad,” Rousey said. “Miesha in combination with her pet boyfriend, Mr. Tate, is frickin’ something else. She’s different when he’s around. I can’t stand him. I really feel like if she wasn’t with him, she would fight better and she would be a better person…He’s always glued to her hip, because if he’s not next to her, no one ever notices him.”
Caraway made headlines recently with his comments about marijuana. When Pat Healy tested hot for pot at UFC 159, the organization stripped him of $130,000 in bonuses. Caraway, who fought on the same card, was then granted Healy’s $65,000 Submission of the Night bonus. After receiving the bonus cash, Caraway lambasted marijuana but soon backpedalled when it seemed like the whole MMA universe turned against him for speaking out.
“He’s a little f—king tool, and it sounds like the kind of thing he would have to say,” Rousey said. “He hates on something he knows nothing about. If he did any of his research, he could give an intelligent answer. But honestly, he hasn’t, so he can’t.”
