Ross Pearson vs. George Sotiropoulos set for UFC on FX 6 in Australia | UFC News

By: Chris Taylor

It was recently announced that a lightweight bout between “The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K.” coaches Ross Pearson (13-6 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and George Sotiropoulos (14-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) will be part of the newly announced UFC on FX 6 event in Australia.

The season 9 winner of “TUF”, Pearson, recently dropped in weight class from 155 pounds down to featherweight (145lbs), where he’s gone 1-1 with a win over Junior Assuncao and a loss to Cub Swanson. Russ now returns to the 155-pound lightweight division, where he has posted notable victories in the past over Spencer Fisher, Dennis Siver and Aaron Riley.

George Sotiropoulos finds himself in a must win situation when he takes on Pearson December 15. The former season 6 TUF cast member, Sotiropoulos, exploded onto the UFC scene winning his first seven fights inside the octagon. He defeated notables such as Joe Stevenson, Kurt Pellegrino and Joe Lauzon during the win streak. Since then, George has suffered back-to-back losses to Dennis Siver and Rafael dos Anjos. George has also been bitten by the injury-bug numerous times over the past 24 months.

Pearson vs. Sotiropoulos will be featured on the night’s main card which is headlined by a middleweight showdown between Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares. Finals for the TUF show, also dubbed “TUF: TheSmashes,” will also be a part of the main card. FUEL TV and FX are expected to carry the night’s prelims

UFC on FX 6 is scheduled for December 15 in an Australian city and venue still to be determined. The event will air live in North America the night of December 14, due to the time difference.
