Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger set for UFC on FOX 8

After an injury layoff, UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald will next face Jake Ellenberger at Seattle’s upcoming Fox card. Carlos Condit was set to rematch MacDonald (14-1, 5-1 UFC), but the Canadian welterweight pulled out with a neck injury. MacDonald’s last fight was a dominant unanimous decision victory over former champion BJ Penn.

Ellenberger (29-6, 8-2 UFC) is coming off  a very impressive knockout victory over Nate Marquardt at UFC 158. This fight will mark just one of many exciting welterweight match-ups in the near future. If MacDonald wins impressively enough he may put himself in a position to challenge for the title. The title is currently held by his close friend and teammate Georges St. Pierre, whom MacDonald has said he has no interest in fighting.

UFC on FOX 8 will be at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington Saturday, July 27th.

I’m in! This could be an explosive fight and I could see this match bringing out the brawl in these beasts. I wonder if the outcome of this will help Goerges choose his next opponent. I’m not a huge fan of either but I’m sure I will be of one of them after this match.

  6. ho@hotmail.com says:

    Ellenberger wins hands down.

  7. george says:

Time to see how rory deals with a good wrestler like ellenberger. Im choosing jake but only just

  8. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

MacDonald is not stronger than Jake. Jake will take him down and GnP him out. If MacDonald beats Jake,a GSP vs Silva fight could be in the works. Unfortunately, Weidman will be MW champ and old man Silva will be too afraid to fight Jones for LHW. Don’t you guys and gals just get that feeling deep in your gut that Silva is going to get really fukced up by Weidman?
