Rory MacDonald Injured, Ebersole Now Faces Patrick At UFC 140

Top welterweight prospect Rory MacDonald has been forced out of his UFC 140 meeting with Brian Ebersole due to an undisclosed injury suffered in training.

UFC officials broke the news this evening.

In his place comes his Tri-Star teammate Claude Patrick who was shifted from his spot on the card against Rich Attonito to fill the void left on the evening’s main card.

UFC 140 takes place December 10th at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Canada and is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight featuring Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida.

Ebersole burst onto the UFC scene back in February as a last minute replacement against Chris Lytle at UFC 127. It was a bout he won as a heavy underdog and has since wracked off an additional win against Dennis Hallman at UFC 133.

Patrick is a Canadian based fighter representing the Tri-Star gym. The 15 fight veteran has only tasted defeat once in his entire career back in 2002 and has claimed victory in all three of his Octagon appearances. He was last seen in a decision victory over Daniel Roberts at UFC 129.

Rich Attonito, while currently left without an opponent will resume training for the event like he is fighting on it as UFC officials have confirmed they will find him a replacement.

    mcddonald v condit rematch

  2. mmaislandjunkie says:

not enough time to cycle off the steroids like his pahtnah gsp. chumps.

    • Tomx2424 says:

It’s sad but your probably right. Hopefully nick will show GSP what being a real fighter is all about come superbowl weekend. And this is coming from a former GSP fan.

      • God luck w that.. hold your breath!

      • Crazycanuck says:

Nick is going to school for the first time in his life

      • J C says:

Youre a complete idiot if you think Diaz has any business being in the octagon with GSP much less a chance to win. GSP is going to completely dismantle him.

@mmaislandjunkie He doesnt roid, he is just that much better than everyone he faces. like a typical dumbass you come up with excuses and bs why your horse doesnt win.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

of course a guy with the initials jc would think hes the newfound messiah. but unfortunately youre just another gsp drone who truly believes gsps style of fighting is one any fighter needs to worry about. nicks biggest threat is gsps takedowns and last time i checked getting taken down doesnt mean ur getting ur asss kicked all it means is that the guy is scared to stand with you. taking someone down to gnp is fine but to take them down and stall for 5 rounds is gay, almost as gay as your horse reference, this aint kentucky bitch.

        • J C says:

Im never upset with a GSP performance. I hate Diaz, I would be just as happy to watch him get worked for 25 minutes and hopefully get his orbital bone smashed in too. Then guess what, 8-10 months where I dont have to hear about his bitch ass. I would also be happy to see him get submitted or KO’d.

GSP trains with Freddy Roach, his boxing will be just fine in this fight. GSP wont be completely gassed after 4 minutes, he wont stand there infront of Diaz for the remaining rounds. If you put a gassed BJ Penn in front of anyone in the division, guess what, they will hit him. It wasnt the amazing skill level of Diaz, it was how fucking lazy BJ is. If Diaz was a real threat, he would have finished him, but instead, he has no power. GSP will use his cardio, footwork, level changes, and explosiveness to avoid strikes.

He executes his gameplan damn near perfectly. As a fan, I cant be upset with that, I respect his skill set and want to see him leave with the title.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

all i read from your post is i love gsp even though the whole crowd boos him every time he fights, i will always love him. just deal with it, gsp fights like a scared school girl that performance vs jake shields had to be the worst main event ive ever seen in my life. yes worse than anderson v maia, at least anderson tagged maia a few times in that fight and dropped him and there was some excitement. execute his game plans your say? so jab jab haymaker wait for 20 seconds left in round shoot for takedown and repeat is something u look forward to? lol ur such a sad nuthugger.

        • J C says:

In a few short months, both of you dumb fucks will watch GSP do whatever he wants against a highly overratted fighter. Then you will both be whining about GSP’s fighting style…again.

Diaz did awesome outside the UFC, alot of guys do that, and fail when they get to the big stage. He was cut before and he will be again.

He beat an out of shape and washed up BJ Penn. BJ trained for 1 round again…surprise surprise. Im glad his ass is walking away. That record was looking worse and worse. So go ahead and drink the Kool-aid.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

what your dumb ass fails to realize is nick messed up bj in a straight up war. thats something gsp could never do. everyone and their momma knows gsp will want none of the standup with nick and will resort to the takedowns and the stalling. gsps ONLY way to win this fight is to stall, hes not gonna fight nick, youre just another idiot whos gonna be upset with his performance then when he fights his next opponent and says “im gonna finish this guy” youre gonna get all excited and forget about his past 5 lackluster fights you know why?? because youre an idiot.

    • io31 says:

Not this sh!it again please. If he was using the stuff that he would use would need to be cycled off way way later than 4 weeks. Suddenly if you have backne when you are 22, you are a steroid user.

BTW, people need to get over Penn-GSP 2 … even here …

      • Ly-er_Ly-er says:

Well yah he does have alotta breakouts, he has to be on roids!!! Or is he just getting over puberty!! LOL jk jk Well whatever the case, gotta give it to the kid he can be a beast!

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

puberty at 22 suuuuure, the kid doesnt just overpower ppl with retard strength because he looks like a retard its becuz hes juiced. no worries chart i know u condone steroids.

        • P R O D I G Y says:

Lmao junkie thinks everyone is on steroids. jeez.

        • io31 says:

Who did he overpower with retard strength again? If you are talking about the Nate Diaz fight, it isn’t really all that hard to suplex someone when he lets you get a full body clinch and allows you to get your hips close to his. Actually it is almost effortless, not to mention Diaz is a lightweight anyway.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

rorys a beast but i have my doubts about any fighter from jackson camp or any affiliate of cheat sonnen.

    • Stop junkie.. Canada doesn’t have roids! : )

  3. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Ebersole, I think is the guy with the arrow shaved into his chest hair. He GnP’ed Hallman death. I bet he’ll never wear a banana hammock to a fight ever again.

  4. Crazycanuck says:

Ebersole is the luckiest man on earth

  5. This guy says:

Ebersole would him a hard run for his money, probably get a decision over him too. Give him some credit, he has equal skills and some tricks you have not seen, plus the experience.

  6. Matt Poulin says:

    Patrick isn’t Tristar.

  7. KJG says:

SHIT! was looking forward to this one too. Rory is a beast and ebersole is somebody to keep an eye out for. Impressed me in his fight against chris lytle.

  8. Nick Diaz says:

Ebersole by awesome chest hair. GSP haters, you have proven your newbieness months ago. Let it go. He will own Stocktons biggest punk ass. From my lips to your untrained ears.

  9. Long-Strong says:

Ebersole is a feel good story; gonna cheer him on for this!

  10. Digs says:

The Prince is legit. A pretty good replacement.

Should still be a really good fight.

  11. Ninjaman says:

Freaking morons who cant accept the fact that Diaz really has no chance against GSP. Just stop an pay attention to the fighters these guys have beat and GSP by far has a way more impressiceve resume. All you GSP haters always talking grease and roids prove one simple truth, your assclowns!!

    • Chartmonster says:

The Saint is going to power jab slap that fool into the hospital and I guaratee u Diaz will get serious boos and he’ll give the fans the Finger! Cant wait to see some power TDs and put that jackass on his back!

      • mmaislandjunkie says:

they might boo nick before the fight but they will boo gsp during the fight. kinda like how gsp was booed IN CANADA for the shields fight. even his own ppl think hes boring.

  12. guamy says:

DVR the GSP vs PENN 2 fight and you can see your boy all greased up by his corner men after every round. ASS CLOWN. if you can see it with your own eyes what more proof do you need. JACK ASS

  13. blahblah says:

We always hear how GSP is going to get beat. I have heard that the last nine fights and he dominated nearly every round of every fight. These claims are like target practice with a blind fold on. If you take enough shots eventually you will hit something. Maybe this will be the one he loses although I think kos, shields, fitch, were tougher fights. Diaz’s chance is catching GSP with a submission if GSP is being lazy and is dumb enough to rest in his guard.

    • learntoread says:

      - “We always hear how GSP is going to get beat. I have heard that the last nine fights”

Umm, sorry pal, there weren’t any sane human beings stating that Dan Hardy was going to beat GSP, LOL, same goes with Kos (being that Georges had already schooled him). Sure, there were people who stated that Shields had a fair chance “IF” the fight went to the ground, but let’s face it Georges didn’t want any part of that game.

Truth is, GSP has been HIGHLY favored to win all of his title defenses since he fought BJ, and most likely will be again when he fights Nick Diaz.

  14. Brian says:

Jesus Nick Diaz fans are retards..
