Ronny Markes in an interview with TATAME.
Markes has competed twice in the UFC getting the win on both occasions firstly at Light-Heavyweight where he defeated Karlos Vemola then dropping to Middleweight to face Aaron Simpson where Markes used his size to edge out a close decision victory. Overall Markes now has a record of (13-1) (2-0) UFC and has also defeated the likes of Paulo Filho.
The Nova Uniao fighter has been out with an injured hand as of late and comments to TATAME on his situation.
“I’m still healing my hand. I started training three weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago I was training and got another injury in my hand. It was swollen, I went to the doctor and he told me it wasn’t 100 percent healed yet. He told me to rest one more month, don’t train hard so my hand is 100 percent. I came back to Rio de Janeiro to have this first moment of light training.”
“I’m helping Renan Barao and the expectation is that I come back as quick as possible so I can get in touch with the organization so they can match me up.”
Markes also comments on Jose Aldo’s injury which bumped up his team mate Barao to the main event.
“Things are great here even with Junior out of UFC Canada, which is on July 21st. He’s out, but Barao is on the main event, so it’s a big thing for him on the organization. I was said not to fight the same day as Anderson Silva, but God knows best and if Jose Aldo wasn’t supposed to fight… It opened room for a teammate, Renan Barao.”
