Joe Rogan All Aboard The Mark Hunt Train | Thinks Hunt vs. JDS Makes Sense

“There are some wise people on this board, and I support this movement. Style wise that might be the most exciting match up. Either way, even if Hunt doesn’t replace the reem I would still love to see this matchup down the road, especially considering how good Hunt looked against Kongo.”

UFC ringside commentator Joe Rogan took to The Underground Forum at MMA.TV to chime in on the popular movement to see Mark Hunt fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 146.

Fuck It I Think Hunt Deserves It!!! But I got JDS On this one

  2. Eric El Bestia says:

    Late news

  3. Dick Diaz says:

if it stays standing, then it’ll be exciting. but i don’t know if JDS would chance that…so it could really just be an easy win for JDS via ground techniques.

  4. Zack says:

Hunt has better stand up than Mir and a better chin than most people. Perfect match up for jds. I don’t think anyone can beat jds right now though.

  5. spiritsplice says:

I guess the fact that he hasn’t beaten anyone worth a shit since Pride is meaningless?

  6. Dennis says:

I’m all for Hunt vs JDS! Just sayin’.

  7. Jujitsu Player says:

Above Mir or Werdum or even Cain…come on he/you can’t be serious….I mean Hunt is a legend but he’s got at least 2 steps before a title shot, surely. This should be about rankings, matching the number 1 contender not just putting on a spectacle and match up, this isn’t a fucking circus.

    • Harmz King says:

I agree that Hunt isn’t above those guys. And also agree that he needs another 2 wins until a title shot. Its just that Dana doesnt wanna cancel the Mir v Cain fight and Werdum is already booked for UFC Brazil and I cant see Werdum being taken off that card. And it will only be a circus if Hunt loses in bad fashion ie gets subbed or KOed. Although Junior will definitely be a clear favourite, remember that anything can happen in MMA!

      • Jujitsu Player says:

You make good points, but to make it a meaningful title defence he should move around the cards. I’m sure Mir and Cain would jump at the chance to step in. Werdum I can’t argue.

  8. drew says:

i smoke weed, and its pretty clear that rogan smoked b4 saying this…jds striking>kongo striking

    • jankeesjaap says:

That’s right. But even when Joe is smoking weed, he’s right about Mark Hunt’s stand-up: He’s a K1-GP-winner and has knocked out the likes of Jerome Le Banner, Stefan Leko and back to back fights with Ernesto Hoost and Ray Sefo. Besides that, he was the one who ended Wanderlei Silva’s 26-fight winstreak and has beaten Cro Cop.
Don’t underestimate Hunt’s stand-up. He might’ve been knocked out once, but that was against Melvin Manhoef, who can litterally destroy anyone on the feet.

Besides Overeem, I give Hunt the biggest chance on knocking out JDS.

      • tisk tisk... says:

did you see that fight or are you taking uncle wiki’s word for it? Wanderlei clearly won that fight n even hunt knew wanderlei won that fight so take that point off your check list please..

  9. T.Daddy says:

    Die the blunt out joe

  10. wtf says:

I don’t want an exciting fight, I want the people who deserve to fight, to fight..

  11. Nando says:

Dos Santos is too crafty to keep it standing; I highly doubt it’d be the fight people hope it would be.

  12. Scotty says:

How does Hunt deserve a shot over Mir? Hunt is on a 3 fight win streak but not against any top HW’s unless u consider Kongo a top HW but I dont.. I better match up would be Hunt vs. Nelson! Both have chin and will slug it out for 3 rounds! That’s what most people want to see, if Dana was smart he could do that.. Just move the card around! But u have to wait cause the UFC is filing for a license for Overeem and appeal is on the 24th, so we will see what happens..

  13. Jefver says:

joe looks like hes in love with the guy in this pic

  14. sykoMMA says:

This is just an injury waiting to happen, i see JDS breaking his hand while beating Hunt into a TKO and then there being another 6-9 month gap on a heavyweight title fight, all over a useless fight

  15. pthance says:

Hunt went 0-5 before joining the UFC, lost his first match, looked like Garbage twice but still won, and beats Kongo…which honestly, who cares; and you want to give him a championship fight against JDS? Sorry, I’d say almost ANY other Heavyweight is a better match up and deserves it more. Hunt is a tin can for JDS to pad his resume with, and I wont pay to see that fight.

  16. Billy says:

Joe Rogan is all aboard any train including the one going into him. If they were pushing for Fedor against JDS he would be for it. OK I couldn’t even type that part about Fedor without laughing

  17. jonesy says:

i think werdum should get a rematch…or hunt…anyone else you put in with jds is an easy and short fight,….the best fights for the fans will be werdum or hunt…

  18. Dave says:

Hunt took a legit Crocop(in his prime) headkick to the head and didnt go down. This would be a great fight, but i def see it like JDS vs Roy Nelson. Hunt getting tagged for 5 rounds and refusing to go down

  19. Donnybrook says:

Joe’s smokin some good shit these days if he thinks that would be competitive… Jabba the Hunt would be a big old punching bag for JDS.

  20. Dave says:

didnt get knocked out* not down

  21. James Troy says:

i was first to say mark hunt. fuck joe rogan takin credit for my ideas.

  22. Jorge Rocha says:

I’m Brazilian, so I want to see JDS against Mir!

  23. SmoothAssNigga says:

Hunt it is, another K1 striker to replace Reem. Not a bad idea.

  24. ry tay says:

i didn’t even think mark hunt deserved to get into the UFC – loose 5 fights in a row and get a ufc contract? WTF!?

in any case, a mark hunt JDS fight would be great to see

    • Harmz King says:

He didnt “get” a contract. He was part of the Pride deal when UFC took over. Dana didn’t want him fighting in the UFC and offered to pay out his contract but Hunt wanted to fight for his money instead! And we all know Dana loves a guy that just wants to scrap!
