Report | Tim Sylvia Signs With ZUFFA, Will Face Cormier Under Strikeforce Banner | MMA NEWS
After a lengthy social media campaign practically begging for another shot in the UFC, former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia now finds himself one step closer.
Several media outlets reported yesterday that “The Maniac” has indeed come to terms with the ZUFFA organization and is now set to square off with Strikeforce HW Grand Prix Champion, Daniel Cormier.
The two heavyweights are expected to fight on September 28 in Sacramento, California.
Sylvia is a five-time UFC heavyweight champion who fell off the map following back-to-back losses against Ray Mercer and Fedor Emelianenko in his post-UFC career. He has since gone on to string together a respectable 7-3 record since his last UFC appearance at UFC 81.
Cormier last saw action taking out Josh Barnett to earn the Strikeforce Grand Prix championship. He is regarded as one of the best heavyweights in the world and with an undefeated record will transfer to the UFC after the bout against Sylvia.
