Report: Nick Diaz Received $300K in Showing For Press Conference Bonus Money

Nick Diaz continues to make his way into the news following his yearlong suspension at the hands of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Along with his suspension, Diaz was fined 30% of his $200k purse for his UFC 143 fight against Carlos Condit and 30% of his $65k bonus money. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported that, according to NSAC Commission Keith Kizer, the bonus money was not a “Fight of the Night” bonus, but part of a $300k bonus that the UFC gave to Diaz, mainly for showing up to all UFC 143 Press Conferences. Kizer further stated that Diaz lost out on PPV incentives when he no showed press conferences promoting his fight with George St. Pierre last fall, so the $300k bonus money was the UFC’s attempt to help Diaz “make up” the money he lost.
UFC President Dana White has yet to comment on the situation.
It’s interesting how the UFC felt that Diaz needed financial incentive to attend press conferences that all fighters are expected to attend.

EVERYTIME he is being interviewed and asked about how he feels about the pay scale, he seems to hint at the possibility of switching to boxing to make even more money because he feels like he is wasting his time with these little itsy bitsy paydays. you guys are illiterate: it says Nick Diaz received 65K to show up for press conferences, not 300K. The entire incentive package was 300K of which 65K was for merely showing up to do the press stuff. Obviously an absurd amount of money for DOING WHAT FIGHTERS ARE EXPECTED TO DO, but different incentive packages for different people.
