Report: Frankie Edgar Likely To Headline UFC in Japan Against This Weekends Guida vs. Henderson Winner
According to multiple reports, UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar is expected to return to action in the UFC’s return trip to Japan as the headliner against the winner of this weekend’s UFC on Fox co-featured event between Clay Guida and Ben Henderson.
“UFC Japan”, while not yet made official by the promotion, is expected to go down on February 26 live from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Guida and Henderson meet tomorrow night in what is likely a number one contender fight for the UFC’s lightweight title. The co-featured bout of the UFC’s inaugural run on network television can be seen live and for free via the UFC’s official facebook channel or on FOX.com.
Edgar was last seen at last month’s UFC 136 event where he successfully concluded a trilogy bout against Gray Maynard to retain his UFC lightweight title. The win gave Edgar his second official title defense since winning the strap from BJ Penn in April of 2010.
The tentative scheduling of this lightweight title fight is of course dependant on the health and availability of this weekend’s winner and could change depending on availability of the proposed title challenger.

Wow hater. He’s my favorite fighter in the UFC. I think he has like five or six fight of the night bonuses. He just proves will and discipline and hrd wrk can’t be matched. O and I guess u think all the rocky movies are boring too for a smaller guy then everyguy in the division the underdog in every fight even as a champion Somebody thats not supposed to win can take a beaten and come back the way he does talk about inspiration. 101

I think he was a few fights ago, especially considering he beat BJ by running around like a track star. That’s when I mostly hated him; but for me hes made up some ground in the respect category his last 2 fights. Frankie shown that he has heart, he will get in there and trade punches, and he won’t quit, ever. That’s def. won him some fans dude.
I agree with the natural on this. Why you hating? That isn’t luck that’s called heart that won him the fight against maynard. I give him Gray some credit. He is a good fighter, but he just couldn’t do the job done. Plus he did what many people haven’t been able to do and that’s beat BJ penn not once but twice and then unanimous decision. Frankie Edgar is one of the most underated fighters out there, but he got the boxing skills, his grappling is improving more and more, he has the heart of a lion, and he is able to keep that steady pace throughout the whole fight. So Frankie Edgar is absolutely someone puts up exciting fights to watch.

Do people forget what he did to bj Penn twice? Only gsp manhandled bj like frankie did! Plus the guy had one of the fights of the year against gray and then knocked him out in their third fight, which ended his undefeated streak! This guy deserves to be champ and headline any ufc event and in my opinion he is top 4 p4p fighter.
yeah, he’s good. but he beat BJ by running around like a frickin’ track star. Beating the peoples champ by running makes you unpopular.
I hate to say it but the Japanese competitors have been getting creamed in the UFC. I’d like to see the talent they put together for the card coming out of Japan. Who will Akiyama face for his ww debut? Frankie is a beast but lets see those PPV sales!

I dont think Japan is fitting for Edgar, but at the same time the Japanese appreciate the sport like no other fan base, and a fight between Edgar vs either one of those guys would defiantly be appreciated for sure. Edgar vs Hendo I believe would be a great fight.
Canada is the MMA stronghold man! Although I agree that Japan would prob. be pretty wicked too. And after the fights they could hit the town and get into all kinds of Shinanigans; those ****ers are into every freaky ass thing you can think of. name it; cat licking yogurt off your balls while you eat dolphin meat. It’s preferred by someone and there’s prob. a store for that there.
