REMINDER | Bautista to Make His MMA Debut with CES MMA Tonight! | MMA NEWS

Upon learning his original opponent is unable to fight, six-time World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion David Bautista will now face Arizona veteran Vince Lucero next weekend in his long-awaited mixed martial arts debut Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at The Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Even his own kids are in awe of the 6-foot-6, 265-pound giant known throughout the world for his death-defying moves inside the squared circle. “When I told them I was fighting Bautista, they didn’t say, ‘Good luck, dad!’ They asked, ‘Can you get his autograph?’” joked Lucero at Friday’s pre-fight weigh-in at the Providence Downtown Marriott Hotel. “The guy is a freakin’ monster, but how do you say no to this fight? This is what I’ll be remembered for, so I need to leave it all in the cage.”
Two weeks ago, the Casa Grande, Ariz., native had no idea he was about to be thrust into the spotlight, but when Bautista’s original opponent, Rashid Evans, fell through, Lucero (20-22, 11 KOs) accepted the fight on short notice. He and Bautista will clash tomorrow night in Bautista’s long-awaited mixed martial arts debut at The Dunkin’ Donuts Center in the main event of “Real Pain,” presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports in association with June Entertainment and 4zero1 Entertainment Group.
Lucero has faced elite competition throughout his career, former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, former UFC heavyweight contenders Justin Eilers, Christian Wellisch, Strikeforce veteran Ruben Villareal.
“I’ve been in there with some prime UFC veterans. I’ve been around the world. I know what it takes,” Lucero said. “This is truly an honor. When they asked me to fight Sylvia, I had already retired. I had a full-time job, but I said, ‘Sure, why not?’ It was like facing Michael Jordan in basketball. You can’t say no to opportunities like this. I’m a fighter, so I fight.” The
The 43-year-old Bautista is a six-time WWE world champion, winning the World Heavyweight Championship four times and the WWE Championship twice. He also won the World Tag Team Championship three times and is the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history. The former bodybuilder and wrestler is also one of the stars of the upcoming Quentin Tarantino motion picture The Man With The Iron Fists, which is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 2.
“I’m doing this for my love and passion of MMA, not for personal reasons,” Bautista said. “I’m tired of talking about myself at this point, but I want to thank everyone who has supported me and supported this event.

why comment?
@757 You do.You cared enough to comment.
WWE records doesn’t really mean a thing in MMA. they don’t count, im a batista fan when i was still fooled by the WWE action and still am because of his cool character but i should say, ‘batista, you’re in the real world now where your opponents attacks you with bad intentions.’
He’s aware Josiah , even he admitts to being dropped by Bonnar during sparring sessions, hes ready, win or lose he’s ready.
First of all Dan the man what are you going to do ….idiot jump through the screen and beat me up? Stupid ass. Techno striker …your says it all so go drop your dick and pick up your hand control and go back to xbox. Like I said who gives a ****
Irony plagues your comment.

LOL@mad little faggot baby!
+ 4 Roids…..would love to see this guy get stomp out by a no name.but we all know this fight is a givin or even fix.im all in 10 grand!Lmfao
they do give and fix fights.. but i dont think they will fix this fight. it will be like Kimbo Slice and Brock Lesnar… they either win or go home. Kimbos boxing wasnt enough, he went home rather quickly after a few fights.
Was what to be expected. He (Bautista) won by TKO. He looked out of his element for the first minute or so. Got rocked by a couple shots and looked like he was going to get knocked out. He looked hesitant to punch and was off balance. But, when he recovered from those shots, he shot in for a double leg. Got the rear mount, tried to get his leg hooks in but the guy was too big(Fat). Took a side mount and was raining down punches. His opponent again gave his back and Bautista just rained down punches until the ref stopped the bout. He said he was going to fight again. He said in his ring interview that he was really nervous and it got the best of him in the beginning. But he is looking forward for another fight.
That is how almost every wrestler/grappler looks in their first fight lol! I figured he would get a GnP stoppage, but i wanted him to get KO’d XD

why the **** are batista’s staged championships even mentioned in this terrible article. we all know its staged, so it really does not have any bearing whatsoever on the mma scene. really really bad article…
batista wins by tko..not an impressive stoppage but almost there. i hope works harder on his standup..
I think he deserves a shot a JDS title after that performance
……snigger
The other fighter was so unfit, it’s definitely a no contest.
