'Ref Cam' Debuts at UFC on Fox 4 | UFC NEWS

By Ryan Busuttil
Saturday’s UFC on Fox 4 event will feature some new technology.
According to a press release from Fox Sports, “Ref Cam” will debut during this weekend’s broadcast. The camera, which will be positioned at the top button of the referee’s shirt during the fights, will give viewers an up close look at the action. The camera is powered by a lithium ion battery with a transmitter that is under the referee’s vest.
This will be a first for the UFC, but PRIDE Fighting Championships used similar technology in the past. Fox Sports employs similar technology during its other sports broadcasts, including its coverage of Major League Baseball. The “Ref Cam” is designed by Inertia Unlimited and has already been featured on HBO Boxing earlier this year.
UFC on Fox 4 takes place this Saturday night at 8PM on Fox with preliminary action beginning at 5PM on Fuel TV. The main event features former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua facing Brandon Vera.

stupid.
how is it stupid ? idiot its just another camera angle.
Am I the only one who finds the ref cam awesome?
Why doesn’t Dana like it?
He said himself “If we get an awesome shot we will use it”
Well no ****ing shit… Obviously you only use it when it gets something good… No one ever said we wanted to watch the whole fight like that.
Let me see it from as many angles as possible…
I just hope they don’t try to get too fancy and switch the camera angle every ten seconds. The method they have been using is very good — let’s not **** it up.
