Recently Released UFC Heavyweight John Olav Einemo Retires

Norwegian big man, John Olav Einemo has opted to retire from the sport of Mixed Martial Arts following his release by the promotion.
He broke the news personally to VG Nett, a media outlet based in his home of Norway.
Einemo made his UFC debut at UFC 131 where he lost a very entertaining match to Dave Herman via TKO; the fight took home “Fight of the Night” honors. He followed up his debut with a second straight defeat at the hands of Mike Russow and the UFC released him.
At 35-years old the grappling sensation has seen enough of the sport and while his split from the UFC was on good terms with an option to return, he has decided to spend his time out of training camps and with his family.
In 2006, the Golden Glory member fought in PRIDE, losing a decision to Fabricio Werdum. Then, after beating James Thompson later that year, he vanished from the sport due to several causes, including family reasons, training concerns and various injuries.
