"Realist" Cain Velasquez Knew He Wouldn't Stay Undefeated Forever

“I’m a realist. I knew I wasn’t going to go through my career undefeated. That’s how this sport is. People lose. Even the best guys lose. I knew as soon as it was over, I had to pick myself back up and keep going forward. I do have some extra motivation now, for sure, but I wish that for that night things had gone differently and that the fans had gotten the fight they came to see. Ultimately, I let myself down. I don’t ever want that to happen, and not for Fox or anything else. I want to go out there and win. Stuff happens. I get that, but I definitely wasn’t happy with my performance. What it comes down to it, I don’t want to be in that position again.”

In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez” target=”_blank”>Cain Velasquez discussed his thoughts on his first career defeat and what it means to get back to action.

He returns to the cage at UFC 146 in a number one contender fight against Frank Mir.

He will come back and murder everyone. I like he doesnt make excuses even though he had the shoulder surgery that make him rest for a year.

  2. mean170 says:

I wouldn’t mind seeing Cain and JDS go at it again.

  3. andy says:

Shit happens. Cain is one of my favorites and JDS is such a good guy it doesn’t even bother me he won. I think the rematch WILL be better and I think it’s a fight Cain can just as easily win as JDS. Both are stand up guys.

  4. dana black says:

he is not the same fighter anymore i think at the pressconference he looked different to me. i dont know but i think there is something going on in his personal life, i think he lost a little bit focus, he isnt the animal anymore, or maybe he just was very very very tired i dont know.

but 1 thing 4 sure, he is a mofo and he would beat up any men on this planet if he is really 100%. a 100% cain vs a 100% cigano my money would be on cain. even i like cigano a lot!!!

    • Ronnin says:

Hope youre wrong pal.But come on! hes lost once! after 1 year out against a very powerfull ****er, plus he got caught, its not like he got a beating

  5. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

I like Cain but he’s not beating Cigano. I’m glad he’s learned from his loss and realizes that he is beatable. That means he’s still hungry.

  6. mike says:

  7. Sergio says:

  8. stua says:
