Rashad Evans Plans To Stay At Light-Heavyweight Unless Offered Anderson Silva Bout With Middleweight Move | UFC News
By Jamie McAllister
Rashad Evans manager Glenn Robinson comments to MMAWeekly.
Former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans has recently been playing around with the idea of making the drop to the Middleweight division. The UFC Middlweight Champion Anderson Silva and his team have also stated that a bout with Evans is one that interests them.
Rashad’s manager Glenn Robinson confirmed that ‘Suga’ would only make the drop to the 185-pound division if he was offered an immediate title shot against Anderson Silva. Currently no offer is on the table for that bout as of yet and Evans is focused on climbing back to the top of the Light-Heavyweight division and aims to return in December.
“If the UFC offered him Anderson Silva at 185 right now today, he would go and fight Anderson Silva at 185. The UFC is not offering him Anderson Silva at 185 today, so that’s not something that’s going to happen. So that’s all Rashad ever meant. His goal is to stay 205 and to fight the best possible 205-pounder; he’d like to fight in December. That’s his goal. Whoever is the best available. That’s who we’ll fight.”

Just drop down to middleweight rashad, it’s good for both yourself and the ufc. If you’re as good as you say you are, then anderson silva will come to you.
im getting a little tired of this now.
people saying “oh i wont move unless i get a free shot at the title!!!”
erm you are not a champ in your own division, what makes you think you have the right to take on a champ in a different one.
they do not owe you anything. stop acting like a diva and fight
Yeah and besides he would need at least one other fight at MW first to make sure he gets the weight cut right.
he doesn’t deserve it, every1 seems to be doing this shit now. getting boring
What the f**** did I tell you guys earlier. Rashad thumping his chest now and issuing statements (through his camp) that the opponents he fights are on his terms. Fight whoever the UFC puts in front of you!
Okay, Rashad is remaining a LHW. Pit him against Gustafsson and let’s watch the fireworks. Or give him Machida again–either fighter and make Rashad prove that he belongs in the upper echelon of the UFC LHW division
rashad is just being funny, stanky legs
Make him fight Shogun.
Hes fighting Gustafson soon
Suga is gangnam style!!
if Rashad dropped down to 185 to take on Weidman and LOST! Weidman’s not that bad and Rashad isn’t that good where Rashad would just run over Weidman. Weidman’s got stand up and jiu jitsu. Weidman’s no Salmon or even Rampage! Weidman’s part of the new breed of MMA fighter, the more well rounded fighter.
If he stays at LHW, let him fight Lyoto or AG. Make Lyoto pay for declining the Jones fight next month. Lyoto would win, but his title shot would just take a little longer.
I think Rashad should move down and take out Weidmans punk ass.. Hes been doing his best Chael impression without any awsome jokes.. Then that would give him a fight with Silva
i would pay to watch that as a main event just to shut that wide headed stupid goof of a boys mouth.
weidman needs to fck off
AGREED!
Rashad evans vs chris weidman, sounds good!..winner gets the spider. Can’t go wrong with that one, unless of course someone gets hurt again lmfao
lol so true
but it actually would be a sick fight you know
+1
Weidman would get smoked against rashad. I would love to see that.
Bones couldn’t finish Evans. I look forward to that rematch.
A fight against Weidman, who I believe Evans would beat, would earn him a shot against Silva. ~Bob’O
Best way to go, put weidman away in spectacular fashion then get that date with the spider. Could be the biggest middleweight title fight ever. Gsp can wait.
Another guy who couldnt get the title and now wants a free ride. Go fight Sonnen and hug each other for 5 rounds.
this comment is ****ing hilarious! btw i agree
rashad vs dana
Instead of spending the rest of his career battling for second place at 205, Rashad needs to move down to 185.
If Rashad refuses to better himself, then I say to hell with him – he can end up in Titan FC just like his buddies in that pathetic camp of his (Jorge Santiago, Anthony Johnson and Miguel Torres).
