Rashad Evans: Jones is so good because he has little fear | UFC News
Jon “Bones” Jones (17-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) will attempt to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship for a fifth time this April when he takes on Chael Sonnen (27-12-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC) at UFC 159.
Jones seems poised to cement himself as one of the greatest fighters of all time and is currently working on one of the most impressive championship runs in UFC history.
What has made Jon Jones so much better than all of his past opponents? According to former champ Rashad Evans, it’s the simple fact that “Bones” fights with very little fear and is willing to take chances inside the octagon.
Rashad Evans Via MMAMANIA.com:
“The reason why he fights so fearlessly is because he really doesn’t have that much fear. The minute you start having fear is the minute you become like everybody else who competes — afraid to take chances, afraid to pull off those big moves that you did in practice. That hesitation leaves you vulnerable for a counter.”
Is there a fighter out there who can instill “fear” in to the mind of Jon Jones? Will Chael Sonnen be able to do so on April 27th in New Jersey? What are your thoughts Penn Nation?

Chael Sonnen to put fear in JBJ??? hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaaahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhaahahah i farted.
I don’t completely agree with all that. Jones has a big reach advantage and also great wrestling which helps neutralize his opponents. Even though machida has good td defense his reach helped him get it to the ground. Rashad is also a good wrestler and that’s probably why he didn’t take that to the ground.
Everyone likes to take Jones skills out of the picture and say his reach is the reason he is good, but I have seen several fighters with above average reach get completely derailed. Jones is amazing, and don’t try to take away something he has clearly earned.
Good to see those guys together again. Mad respect for Rashad, his skills separate him from the rest of weight class expect for Bones and Machida which is just a bad matchup for him (love to see a rematch though)! Never seen anyone else completely out class Phil Davis who is beast too. No need to mention Chael except he’s a great shit talker!!
They are not back together that picture is way old. That is a pic of when Jones fought the janitor. I agree with the fear thing along with his reach and wrestling too. All three together make him very dangerous. Machida is my fav fighter but jones has destroyed and made everyone look stupid so far.
Fear the Spider Silva!!!!!
Correction: It’s Andy that is afraid of JBJ!! Andy has no problem going to 05 and fighting top 20 fighters but when it comes to getting the biggest payday of his life against JBJ, he is scared. And EVERYBODY knows this.
wow, your an idiot.
tranny
Well dry humpin wrestlin man I do agree with you on this…
It’s obvious Andy is scared to lose and get beat up in the process. If he was real like BJ he would risk it, but he’s not. Oh and wrestlers are just tougher than anybody else and it’s actually called controlled top position. So please keep the homo references to yourself. Thx.
Jones is successful because of his size and reach. The guy is anywhere between 220 and 230 of lean muscle on the day of the fight. Add that with his athleticism, and ridiculous reach, and martial arts skill, you have an almost unbeatable opponent. Look at the Vitor fight. Vitor was overwhelmed with this huge monster who was able to move just as quick as him, but with an 84 inch wingspan.
Yah but Vitor sucks so it’s not a good comparison.
I agree 100% JBJ does fear something it’s not what most people would think it is but it’s the driving force behind his success. The fear of not providing for his family, the fear of not living up to the family name, dude has two brothers that are NFL football players. The fear of letting your love ones down!!! Yeah I know most people are going to say every fighter deals with that, and they do but I think JBJ has taken it to another level. That fear is the driving force behind his success, that fear is what caused the split between JBJ and Suga, his family, the fear of letting down his family was more important then his friendship with Suga. It was so much more important that’s why he’s the Champion. That same fear will eventually lead him to a super fight with Anderson. JBJ is not in it for his training partners, or you and I. He’s in it for himself and his family, his family name. Look at how many guys are spouting about well I’m not going to fight this guy or that guy, we’re training partners. Reach and skills are important, but that’s not really an advantage. They are professional fighters, his advantage is his fear of failing his love ones and he’s taken it to another level. And if you think I’m full of shit go ask an SFOD guy about the fear of failing, your family.
…shut..up….please
@Sammy…Wow u managed to say all that with Jones **** in ur mouth…U guys swinging off Jones’s nuts make me sick.Fearless?Gotta be kidding me…U forget about ufc151?It got cancelled because he was SCARED to fight Sonnen on short notice.Even tho he was coming off a full training camp.If he was fearless he wouldnt have shot for a takedown 10 sec into the fight against a injured Vitor.Oh n the jack ass above that says Vitor sucks,Vitor almost beat Jones n the 1st round with a broken hand in the 1st,but he let go.And he just jacked up Bisping over the wknd.
Black Fedor is coming…
