Rashad Evans | I’m Going To Get Inside, Take Him Down And Ground n Pound Jon Jones

“I know the real Jon, the nervous kid who would ask me to tell him how to dress, how to talk, and how to fight. I know how he reacts when things don’t go his way, how he can’t handle it mentally… And I’ve been through these types of pressure fights. I’ve been in these situations where emotions are involved with my fights with guys like (Michael) Bisping and Rampage (Jackson). Jon has never been in this type of situation and he’s never faced a fighter like me. I know I will get my title back at UFC 145… I know all about him, all about his coaches, and all about his camp. I could probably tell you what he’s doing in the gym right now. He’s in the exact same environment doing the exact same things with the exact same people. But I’m in a different environment, I knew I had to learn, had to mix things up, and I had to change. Jon has no idea what I will do on the night. He can talk about improvements he’s made, but there are still some things in his game he can never change. He’s a long, rangy fighter and I’m going to get inside, unleash my stuff, take him down and ground and pound him. I’m at a level in my career where I can take down and ground and pound anyone. He’s not Jon Jones ‘unbeatable champion’ to me. I know I will beat Jon Jones.”
The most highly-anticipated light heavyweight title fight of all-time comes to Atlanta on Saturday, April 21st, as UFC 205-pound champion Jon “Bones” Jones defends his crown for the third time against former title holder “Suga” Rashad Evans. They once were friends, but now the time has come for them to settle their grudge in the Octagon once and for all.

Good luck with that after the first knee or elbow to your face, pretty sure you’ll be staying to the outside!
I see some flying knees in Rashad’s future…..
Can somebody kick Jones little chicken leg?. That dude doesn’t work his legs out at all! I’m sure he won’t be running away after some intense, well placed leg kicks.
Jon Jones will verbally tap to strikes while pinned down in the crucifix position.
haha that would be epic if jones taps from strikes
“Jack Nicholson nodding gif”
The kid aint nervoous anymore he’s beat Bader,Shogun,Page, and Machida all in a years span, and you think your gonna break him mentally? Rashad gets rocked almost every fight and has great recovery time, the only thing is Jones won’t give you the chance to recover once he hurts you, your gonna get KOed and it will be a highlight reel!
Agreed, Rashad has a glass jaw and when hes rocked again Jones will put him away for sure.
Rashad has really only been rocked against Machida and ended up getting knocked out and then Rampage but he survived. Jones probably won’t even be able to rock Evans. The last guy he rocked was Machida and quite arguably Machida has a glass chin too which is why he fights the way he does.
He also got rocked by Thiago Silva.
Rashads speed advantage coupled with his strength should help him implement his game plan. Jones is a more unorthodox fighter but he’s not as fast or strong as rashad. Jones will have to work his range and wrestling to win this fight. Don’t underestimate rashad because you don’t like him.
He’s not as strong as Rashad? have you not seen him throw people around like rag dolls?
i think he means more punching power which evans does and hes way more explosive than jones. i see a k.o
Rashad is stronger…Jones just has more leverage because of his height and reach
rashad will be crushed easily. just watch and see
“Jon has no idea what I will do on the night…..He’s a long, rangy fighter and I’m going to get inside, unleash my stuff, take him down and ground and pound him.” Nice going Rashad lol.
LOL… yeah Jones has no idea.
but do u think Rashad will win BJ??
I used to think so but not anymore. The camp he moved to (Blackzilians) isn’t very good based on the past perfomances of its best fighters. I don’t think he’s getting the best training possible. Jones definitely is! I don’t see Rashad winning..
*performances
Bullshit, rashad is going to lay and pray.
Rashad already inside Jones head, 5 rounds and Rashad will beat Jones for sure, realty chech point for Jones.
take him down rashad so then jon can get a win from his back. jons either subbing him or koing so it dont matter where rashad takes the fight
I think Rashad is gonna get tossed around like everyone else. I mean Rashad probably has the best tools to beat him, I just don’t think Rashad will beat him.
Somehow, and I have no idea why, I think Rashad is going to provide a shocker on the night.
I want to see how Jon does when he is really in trouble. Machida made him nervous but I want to see the pressure elevated by Rashad. Jon has never been beat down and came back. Good luck Rashad, I’m still not putting money on ya.
Don’t bet your house, if u do, you can stay in one of mine….Jones FTW!
LOL I wish I owned a house… Oh sad day.
Machida grazed Jones once before getting choked out and dropped on his face. and his striking is WAY WAY better than Rashad’s, especially from range.
The things Rashad would have to do to win, he simply will not be able to do. Get Inside, take Jones down, beat him up on the ground… that shit aint happening.
Better strikers haven’t been able to lay a hand on him, and better wrestlers are rocking a solid 0% takedown success (or at least elite world class MMA wrestlers, I’ll admit Rashad has very good wrestling)
Jones wins easy without a scratch on him.
holy shit…..
Jones will back up and use is physical gift of reach.
He really isn’t that great… he is just physically gifted.
Seriously how much ass could most of us kick in that body?
Seriously how many headline stories are you going to make off of the 6 minute extended jones vs evans preview. that has to be about 4 already just from Rashad.
YOUR FUNNY
SUGA WILL GROUND AND POUND THE SHIT OUT HIM. I GOT FAITH IN RASHAD ALL DAY.
You are gonna be crying like that baby above your comment when the fight is over.
Rashads a winner ppl seem to forget that. imo if Jones didnt have that reach he wouldnt won those fights he physical att. is his biggest strength
best way to put it…if these guys had a trilogy it would be just ali frazier, frazier gets the first one (rashad), but jones would never loose to him again after that…rashad is winning this fight, no worry about jinxing him because i trully believe that.
All the fighters have acted like Jon Jones is a puzzle they need to solve. Rashad thinks he has the right gameplan to deal with Jones. I disagree. I believe we are to the point where Jon Jones is just head and shoulders above the rest of the 205ers. His length and reach are a great advantage, along with his wrestling base make him tough to handle. He hurts people with strikes and then chokes them out. If Jon Jones wins this fight I think its fair to talk comparisons to Anderson Silva like domination. Bonner, Bader, Shogun, Rampage, Machida. and if he takes out Evans in spectacular fashion. That is a who’s who of the 205lb division that he has handled and made it look very easy.
True, but I want a rematch with Shogun and a fight with Hendo then he can be compared to whomever he wants.
Think what you want rashad but to implement it is a whole different story.
@mean170…..you sir are so ****en correct!!!!
For some reason, I believe Shad.
Jones wins easy. The only fight Jones will be in is him fighting Condit over who gets to be Greg jacksons bitch.
I believe Rashad will test Jones quite a bit more than Machida did. He has the speed to give Jones some problems standing, and most importantly, he can take him down. It will all come down to how much ground and pound he can get off after he takes Jones down. To me, the key will be avoiding the early shin kicks from Jones. He uses that effectively to keep guys, eg: Rampage, from closing distance on him and it screws up their legs and ability to go for take – downs right off the bat. The longer this goes, the better for Rashad. I see it going to a clsoe decision.
i think rashad is not numbeer 2 at all i have said thath…if he wins he wont hold the belt long like jon jones….but i think maybe he can beat jon and he knows what he is saying now…something about the look of fear on jon face after round 1 of macchida…i think he will give up fast if it not going his way…jones has not had anything go wrong yet..and even slightly against machida he lookt shook…..i hope he kill rashad
Talk is cheap, I hope this fight lives up to the hype. I feel like Rashad is the only legit threat to Jones at 205 outside of a rematch with Shogun. I don’t think Hendo has anything in his arsenal to stop Jon Jones from taking him down. We’ll see what happens, I don’t think anyone at 205 can beat Jones.
Hendo was an Olympic alternate in Greco-Roman Wrestling…….He’s a better wrestler than Jones, he just likes to bang
I hope Rashad can shock the world for the second time.
Would make me so happy if Jones taps Rashad out with strikes due to elbows from the bottom after Rashad tries his lay n pray
Your all a bunch of homos. How do you know what the outcome of the fight is gonna be. To say jones will do this or Rashad will do that is pathetic. Get a life instead of sitting at your keyboards thinking you know everything there is to know about mma
hey asshole, this is a disscussion forum, what the hell are you doing here if you dont wanto to discuss MMA. oh yea chael sonnen is the rush limbaugh and the paris hilton of MMA. take ur ass on somewhere bozo
smh for rashad to get inside he has to take strikes to score a take down he has to take strikes rashads my dude but hes not going to when this jon jones is going to destroy this dude yall evans fans pick evans poison……p.s anderson over chael
blah blah blah…who cares….too much talking.
just shut up and fight.
while i think jon jones will crush him, anything can happen and yes, rashad could possibly win…but it will have very little to do with anything he’s talking about right now. it would more likely just be an off night for jones, or a lucky punch. but either way, i’m sure rashad will be more than happy to tell everyone all about how he knew it was going to happen and he’ll be full of himself, as usual.
Exactly, blah, blah, blah…you are so full of crap Evans.
This fight will not even be close. Jones will lay a beating on you from the start until the finish. You are not in the same league as this guy. Finally someone will shut you up, hopefully for good.
That is his only plan, that’s funny, he might have a chance once he has jon on the ground but that really isn’t going to happen, how many times have I said this, nobody can get inside of jon jones, you hear me, nobody buddy!
If any one can beat Jon Jones it is Rashad Evans, he’s quick and has heavy hands and is strong as an ox, Hes looked like a complete beast his last fights and the most important thing is that he is stronger mentally. regardless of if you think rashad will win, Rashad thinks he will win and that is the most important thing. He is ready and he is in Jons head!
