Rashad Evans: I won’t fight Vitor

Just moments after Chris Weidman shocked the world by defeating Anderson Silva at UFC 162, Vitor Belfort (23-10 MMA, 12-6 UFC) began campainging for another shot at the UFC middleweight strap.

Unfortunately for “The Phenom”, Dana White booked an immediate rematch between the longtime middleweight kingpin and the newly crowned champ, set for this December at UFC 168.

The UFC then tried to offer Vitor a fight with Strikeforce import Tim Kennedy, but Belfort declined stating that the only bout he’d take at 185-pounds would be for the title.

With that, UFC president Dana White suggested that Vitor take a fight with former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (18-3-1 MMA, 13-3-1 UFC).

Rashad talked to ESPN.com on Thursday and stated that he would not fight Vitor Belfort or any other teammate for that matter:

“I won’t fight Vitor,” said Evans, who trains with Belfort at Jaco Hybrid Training Center in Boca Raton, Fla. “I won’t fight Thiago Silva. I won’t fight Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira. I won’t fight anybody who I train with!”

“I made that mistake before, and I won’t do that again. I lost a lot of relationships because I did that before.”
