‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Joey Beltran Set for Bellator 108 Main Event
After a neck fracture to Tito Ortiz thew a wrench in to Bellator’s plans of conducting their first ever Pay-Per-View, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (32-11) was left without an opponent and without a date for his debut fight in Bellator.
There was a litany of suggestions for fighters to step in Ortiz’s place to face Rampage but he was ultimately pulled from the card, which had become a free TV event on the same date. Rampage took to Twitter, sharing his condolences for Ortiz and wishing him a fast recovery, while also expressing his readiness to fight as he proclaimed that he was in peak physical form.
Rampage now has an opponent in fellow former UFC light-heavyweight, Joey Beltran (14-9, 1 NC).
Beltran appeared on the BJPenn Radio show last week and said that he had received offers from various organizations all the while sounding quite content with how his career had been unfolding since being cut from the UFC in early November.
Beltran also stated on the broadcast that he told his manager that he would replace Ortiz and fight Rampage if need be.
He now makes his promotional debut as well, hoping to make a successful run in a division that he holds a 1-2, 1 NC in.
They will headline the Bellator 108 card on November 15th according to officials. The event takes place at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Also appearing on the card is a middleweight title fight between Alexander Shlemenko and Doug Marshall and a featherweight tournament finale between Patricio Freire and Justin Wilcox.
