QUICK TWITT | Weidman Not Interested In Facing Belfort | UFC NEWS

Earlier today we put out a quote from Vitor Belfort making the call to face UFC middleweight top contender Chris Weidman.

Chris has answered “The Phenom” via his official twitter account and is apparently not interested in a showdown with the MMA legend.

  1. True MMA says:

Come on man. Fight Belfort. Man up.

  2. Brian Greer says:

He beat one dude that meant a little something but he def needs something bigger and better like a name some people know and that comment was a condescending as hell to a legend he is becoming a douch…fight anyone anytime!

  3. Jamie Rowe says:

shut up!! goodness it’s bad enuf my favorite fighter (a.silva) has to do this shit now i gotta hear a guy who just now became known to mma fans, talk about who he will/won’t fight….shut up you and silva will fight whoever/whenever ur bosses tell ya so spare us the hype train chris b/c chael done road that bitch outta town at ufc 148!

  4. Nick says:

Prove he can beat Vitor. I mean he’s not getting an immediate shot. Dana already said it. He would be the guy if Anderson said he wanted to fight tomorrow, but he’s probably gonna end up fighting someone else.

  5. Cody says:

Just wiki his record then wiki the record of the guys he beat to anyone who thinks he deserves a title shot its funny he has to fight at least one top 5 to be considered IMO it’s like Dana’s trying to give him a shot by default cause Anderson has humilulated everyone in the div bisping is much more deserving especially if he beats stann

  6. aaron says:

1 win over a shitty munoz and hes anderson silva worthy…. lol

  7. Dee says:

This is what I’m talking about. It’s okay to smear Silva’s name and make accusations about him not wanting to fight people, yet fighters are getting rank without fighting anyone. This dude doesn’t want to fight Belfort because he’s afraid to lose. You are suppose to earn a title shot not get one. I’m tired of this MMA bull. Quit tweeting and running your mouth and just fight. Really? The dude has only 5 fights and he’s trying to call the champ out. That’s absurd. If people had half the brain they wouldn’t buy into this crap.

  8. B-rad says:

Yeah yeah, here we go.. just because he got a win over a top 5 guy doesnt automaticly give you a title shot, if he stops vitor then he deserves the fight, but i think he is a little worried about vitors boxing

  9. Xaninho says:

So Silva is accused of ducking Weidman because he says he hasn’t earned it yet. Now Weidman is clearly ducking Belfort to cut in line.

I wonder what the Silva haters will say about this.

    • Mik says:

Couldn’t agree more man, Weidman beats Munoz a guy whose biggest wins are against Maia and Leben and thinks he is number one contender. Not going to lie the win was impressive but is Munoz really a top 3 guy, in my opinion no.

  10. Gouldx87 says:

The problem is this… Vitor is a super dangerous striker but there isnt much hype or call for a Belfort vs Silva rematch right now considering what anderson did to him last time.. Weidman, while being young in his career is a new face to the division and could be marketed as the dark horse.. a seemingly unknown kid coming out of no where to take the title.. wether he can do it or not is another question but, my point is that the UFC doesnt wanna feed potential contenders to Vitor over and over

  11. Sean says:

Didnt silva say hes not interested in a fight with weidman

  12. MMApersonlJesus says:

Belfort would destroy Weidman even if he loses the fight. Belfort hits like a truck, and you don’t want to take too many of those shots in your career. Belfort could inflict some serious damage and perhaps leave him on the sidelines for a bit, which would derail the hypetrain.

  13. Mmafanzone says:

He is ducking because he is scared of a veteran like belfort! Why doesn’t he fight him and beat him then anderson would probably feel like beating him! Oh wait because he’s scared of losing to vitor vicious knockout ability!

  14. KM says:

Weidman vs. Silva would be a much more interesting fight than Bisping vs. Silva. Does anyone really think that Bisping would make it out of the first round? Don’t think that Weidman would win either, but would be more interesting. These guys r fighters yes, but this is also how these guys pay their bills. Of course he would rather fight the champion than Vitor. Makes perfect sense to me.

  15. jdog says:

    Sounds like someone is scared!

    “Don’t be scared Homie!”

  16. 808 says:

Too bad it’s not up to Weidman whether or not he fights Vitor. Whatever Joe Silva wants, Joe Silva gets.

  17. Not a troll says:

Weidman should fight chael cause he called him weedman, then winner gets belcher, then winner gets boetch, then winner gets chael incase he lost then winner gets sylva, only if it’s chael

  18. mj says:

Chris is scared because he knows that Vitor has been training with Randy ever since they found the “blue print” to beat him. Vitor is the only striker who could KO Andy, the rest dont get off fast enough to even touch him. If Chris is smart he will Shut up and Hope Belfort loses to Belcher and Stann beats Bisping. He could beat Bisping… and if he got Stann down he would have a fish out of water to just put away. Right now I hate to say it but I would give Bisping a shot. Anderson will never fight Vitor again…he stated that many times. So dont hold your breath. After Silva is gone then I think Vitor takes the belt and Retires. Then Chael finally wins hahaha
