Quick Twitt | Stann Responds To Shlemenko Claims That He Faked An Injury To Get Out Of Lombard Bout | UFC News

By Jamie McAllister
Brian Stann was accused of getting out of his bout with Hector Lombard by faking an injury earlier today by Alexander Shlemenko.

“They offered Brian Stann to fight Hector Lombard. He got injured, and then the next thing you know – he’s fighting Michael Bisping. I can see the logic – for Brian Stann it makes more sense to fight Bisping, he’s simply more popular in the UFC than Hector Lombard. That’s why beating Bisping means more than beating Lombard, who’s a risky opponent.”

Stann responded to the comments via his Official Twitter Account.

“My injury was a 6-8 week recovery & the UFC was not interested in delaying his debut to wait for me. Fighters dont fake injuries, we have to pay the bills guys!”

  1. GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

Stann wanted out of that fight and he knows it. Bisping dropped out of the Boetch fight the very next morning because he was the logical choice to replace Stann against Lombard. using bullshit excuses to get out of bad matchups. Fitch just did the exact same thing against Aaron Simpson because Simpson is a way way better wrestler and 100 times better Athlete. Simpson is use to fighting 230lbs middleweightsa nd He would have raggdolled Fitch and shut down his lay n pray and knocked his boring ass out with his big right hand. Fitch knew damna well Simpson was a horrible matchup

      i like you

funny tho, fighters don’t have to sign the dotted line if they don’t want to fight the opponent that joe silva chooses. take anderson silva, for example. he’s refused to fight several opponents, so has shogun. if the fight doesn’t make sense, or doesn’t further their career, they don’t sign. it’s a two way street, both fighters have to agree. sure, a bunch of fighters act tough like they have something to prove and say, “i’ll fight whoever they put in front of me”, which can also mean that they don’t want to call anyone out.

Brian Stann is a honorable veteran, and a warrior. i don’t think he’s afraid of anybody. he’s been through hell in the desert fighting a thankless war for our country. all you haters should pack ur bags and move to canada. he can stand with anyone. he ground game is suspect, but he’s working on it. if he was gonna duck a fight, it should have been the sonnen match up (for obvious reasons).

      • jdog says:

2 way street??????????????? Where the f@ck are you from?????? Yes Silva and Rua have refused, but they are money makers, do you think for one minute that a new person in the UFC can refuse??? Also with the fans and knowing Dana will do what he did to Rua and tweet that he refused a fight would be career suicide to refuse. If you think for one moment that someone that picks and chooses his fights will last long in the UFC then you need some serious help and need to quit smoking whatever you are smoking.

Point blank they have to look like a company guy IF they are faking, it really isn’t faking, they are just deciding to actually heal a minor or major injury instead of hide and fight with it. Most don’t care they need the money, but a guy like Stan who is an up and comer really needs to look like a company man and that he is not afraid or he WILL loose fans and face within the UFC.

I do not think Stan ducked Lombard or faked an injury but I will agree it is within the possibility to reason it does happen quite often. Everyone knows Dana is a d@ck and he will fire for almost any reason UNLESS you are a big draw…

      • Xaninho says:

Silva has never refused to fight anyone. He recently asked for some time off, but that’s another story.

According to DW Silva has never said no to a fight.

        • Whatever says:

That’s funny saying Anderson has never refused a fight. He is the king of pick and choose.

  2. Wrestler66 says:

I think around the time it all happened the UFC organised the injuries to re-shuffle match-ups and the fighters simply agreed to go along with it …. I think when it comes fight time the likes of Bisping and Stann might get a little bonus cash for playing along ….

  3. dante080 says:

If by, he turns around to fight bisping, you mean that he will wait about 3 months. Then yeah. Another lombard nut hugger

  4. FitchIsACoward says:

The accusation is ridiculous, Stan should make him eat his words, what’s next that he may have faked an orgasm in boot camp?

  5. like kook said…the guy has been thru hell…people trying to kill him and every other American there…that take big balls…I doubt he is scared of anyone, let alone Lombard…lol. Some stupid comments here…Stann would put a hurting on Lombard…Lombard would have to wrestle Stann to beat him which he does against every good striker he has fought, hell he laid on shlemenko for 5 rds. He barely out struck Boetsch ffs…he is too flatfooted for the ufc’s MW division. Much respect Stann.

  6. Jb says:

This guy saves his platoon from an ambush of fighters, RPGs, ieds and mortars-but he faked his injuries. He’s a marine and a war hero, last dude on earth who would fake an injury. You haters are very tough behind your keyboards. Watch the special done on him,

  7. ernesto hoost says:

ever since fighters have got insurance we see more and more injuries.meaning if they get injured before a fight the insurance company pays them a percentage of what they would have got and they get whatever is hurt fixed by a surgeon and rehab.so when he says they still have bills to pay he still gets some money.i am not saying brian stann did this to duck lombard. but i am sure other fighters do

  8. ToneLoc24 says:

Of course he faked the injury. Just like he faked an injury to get out of going to Iraq and having gun fights with psychopaths in the middle of a war.. oh wait he did go to Iraq and have gun fights with psychopaths in the middle of a war.. yea he obviously faked an injury cause hes such a pussy he didnt wanna have to fist fight somebody lol. What a bunch of fuckn idiots

  9. Coffee409 says:

The guy is a war vet who saw battle for crying out loud!!! You think he’s affraid of a little fist-fight?!?!

    GET REAL.

  10. Shawn says:

Some do, some don’t. Some fighters don’t need more money to pay the bills. Its all about status, rep, and fame for the already rich. So I can see how, some may just want to save themselves for more prestigious fights. Its a premadonna move, but what can you do.
