Saturday night stopped the impressive momentum of 20-year-old fighter Sergio Pettis, “the Phenom” promised fans that he would bounce back from his loss to Alex Caceres stronger than before.

I messed up,” wrote the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.  “But I’ll come back Stronger thanks for all the support learned a lot tonight (sic).

Pettis controlled much of his fight against Alex Caceres Saturday night at UFC on FOX 10; and despite being knocked down in the second round, Pettis looked like he could be on his way to his second UFC win and the continuation of his undefeated record.  But with less than a minute left in the third round, Caceres was able to take Pettis’ back and secure a rear naked choke, forcing the young fighter to tap at 4:39 in the final round.

In his first 10 professional fights, Pettis went undefeated and earned the RFA flyweight title and the NAFC bantamweight title – all before joining the UFC and winning an unanimous decision against Will Campuzano at UFC 167.

Both Pettis and Caceres earned a $50,000 bonus for having the Fight of the Night, and Caceres earned an additional $50K for Submission of the Night.
