QUICK TWITT | Jon Jones: Glover Is A Rampage With Better Grappling

The UFC announced last night that Glover Teixeira will face the winner of this month’s Jones vs. Gustafsson UFC 165 main event.

Glover successfully dispatched Ryan Bader with a first round TKO in Brazil to earn the shot.

The Champ, Jon Jones, chimed in via twitter with his thoughts on the potential new challenger.

Here is what he said:

  1. Big daddy says:

Last time I checked jbj almost got his arm snapped by a grappler. Jbj is just and oversized lhw with a freak reach advantage. Only a matter of time before he gets knocked out.

  2. UFC 84 Forever says:

I’d hazard an agreement with that. I don’t think he has enough in him to beat Jones and certainly not yet.

    I guess we’ll see though.

  3. squid says:

jones is right in a sense. but, i think glover has way more cardio and hunger than rampage ever did. i think he’s also more intelligent than rampage’s dumbass and he’ll learn from jones’ past fights. that counter combo on ryan bader was a thing of beauty.

  4. Sean says:

Jones you donkey. You realize Glover is more accomplished than you at everything right? And when I say everything I mean EVERY form of martial arts besides plain vanilla wrestling.

  5. Sean says:

Easy money betting on Glover this fight. I smell another 5 digit payday for me! You rookies who only watch the headline UFC fights will learn soon as they close the cage.

  6. confucius says:

bader was way too aggressive. difference between rampage & glover…glover still finishes his fights. definitely wont be as easy as rampage was for jones. should be a good fight. theres somethinga bout those brazilians that they sure can take a beating. looking forward to this one way more then jones vs gusty

  7. Nate "THE ROID CHEAT" Marquardt says:

I can’t wait tell Jones steps up and tries to fight guys alittle closer to his own size. Without his freakish reach he would be average at best. Grover would chase Jones down and put his hands on him win or lose. Jones has the reach of a 7 footer and will still have at least a foot reach on Cain and a good 10″ on JDS. Regardless they will take him out

    • Don't contradict yourself in the same post! says:

“Without his freakish reach he (Jones) would be average at best.” So, with his reach, Jones is what? A fighter whose reach advantage wins the fights for him? Forget everything else, like elbows, fight knowledge, muay’s his REACH that wins him the fight! Really?
Haters will hate regardless. Keep hating while Jones continues to dominate the UFC. Yeah, I know: everyone loses (ie Silva, Henderson..) I can accept that. It’s the pure hatred for no logical reason that’s hard to accept.
