Quick Twitt | Dana White Confirms Officials Error | McCall vs. Johnson A Draw, Will Now Rematch

That’s right guys, the commission messed up majorly last night and despite the UFC’s extra efforts into making sure this Flyweight tournament would continue without any delays, they are now forced to do just that and put on a rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall to determine the tournament finalist that will go on to face Joseph Benavidez.

The UFC had set in place a fourth round clause for these tournament fights in case one went to a draw. Unfortunately for both Johnson and McCall the commissioner responsible for tallying the judge’s scores did it wrong and gave Johnson the win, when the bout was in fact ruled a draw after three-rounds.

We have included a photo of the scorecard that was drawn up in error on Page 2 of this entry. Skip on over to page two to get a breakdown of how and where they messed this thing up.

UFC on FX 2 went down last night from Sydney, Australia’s Allphones Arena. In the main event Martin Kampmann took a page out of the book of Tim Boetsch and stole victory from Thiago Alves with a last minute guillotine choke to force Alves to tap and secure victory in the third round.

As the photo shows, Demetrious Johnson clearly won based on the scores of two judges, but this is an error. The man responsible for making this sheet that Bruce Buffer announces from made a huge and terrible mistake that greatly affected the outcome of the UFC’s flyweight tournament.

Jude Sal D’Amato actually scored the bout 28-28 (a draw), he gave the first two rounds to Johnson but scored the third for McCall via 10-8. This was the error made on the scorecard featured above.

The second judge scored the first round a 10-10, scored the second a 10-9 for Johnson and the third a 10-9 for McCall making his total score 29-29 (a draw).

The third judge actually scored the bout for Johnson as the victor. He gave the first two rounds to “Mighty Mouse” and the last to McCall. His score was 29-28 for Johnson.

Despite the one judge scoring it for Johnson, with the other two scores deemed a draw this fight should have gone to the fourth round to determine a clear winner.
