Quick Twitt: Chad Mendes Off UFC 157 – “No one would step up.” | UFC NEWS

The past few days have been pretty dissapointing for featherweight Chad Mendes, who informed fans of his withdrawal from UFC 157 next weekend via Twitter. After injuries forced Manny Gamburyan out of their main card bout, Mendes wasted no time in calling out an equally ambitious Ricardo Lamas, who has been lobbying for a title shot of his own. Lamas declined the challenge, announcing that he has already signed for a fight this May. Mendes is coming off back to back knockouts against Cody McKenzie and Yaotzin Meza and planned on carrying the momentum in the Gamburyam fight. Unfortunately, it looks like Chad “Money” Mendes will have to put his run at another title shot on hold untill UFC matchmakers can find an opponent.
