  1. Robby says:

I’ve got Jones by decision. Lyoto can avoid those crazy spinning elbows, but Jones will get him down using his wrestling. Lyoto doesn’t like being on his back.

    • Mike McMack says:

Lyoto hasn’t been on his back in the UFC nor has he ever been out wrestled. While Jon Jones is a great fighter, he’s still over hyped IMO. 2 things will end the Jon Jones hype train, a loss or him cleaning out the 205 pound division. Neither one will come easy.

      Machida by Decision

      • Mike McMack says:

I know Machida has been taken down but I’ve never seen him there long so thats what I mean about him not being on his back :)

      • GRT 3000 says:

If he cleans out 205 it’s not hype buddy, it’s real. So far he’s off to a good start.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

as of his win over rampage anyone who says jones is overhyped is nothing more than an ignorant hater. the man is in the ufcs most stacked division – the light heavy division has been the ufcs premier division since its early days- and he is smashing guys that have run the division for years. if he beats machida his streak of wins in one year is probably the most impressive of any champion EVER.

        • Mike McMack says:

Thats what I meant but I guess I didn’t communicate it that well. Cleaning out the most stacked division in the UFC would justify the hype. Lets’ face it Jones is way over hyped, Im not saying he’s not worthy but assuming that anyone is unbeatable is over hyping them IMO. Jones has only beaten Rampage and Shogun so far, if he cleans out 205 the case could be made that he’s the greatest of all time. I mean, what did Anderson do other than defend his belt against the best 185ers out there for all these years. 205 has an even better list of fighters than 185, if he cleans out this divisions he not only justifies the hype, he could possibly be the best ever.

I think a lot of people are counting Machida out, Machida is as smart a fighter as Jones is. Machida has hopefully learned from the mistakes that cost him the belt and the loss to Rampage. Yeah, beating Randy the way he did isn’t the most meaningful of wins in terms of quality competition but I think Machida is still improving as a fighter. I think we’ll see a hugely improved version of Lyoto this time around, and I think that if the fight goes the distance Machida will win.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

if he beats machida he would have beaten the past 3 out of 4 champions of the ufc since chuck liddells era (i dont consider forrest a real champ with his bs decision gift victory over rampage). after he beats evans he would have beaten all of them. beating 3 out of 4 in one year is INSANE and those 3 guys alone are tougher than 90% of the guys silva defended his belt against.

  2. SP83 says:

I don understand ‘Jones by KO’. Who has Jones KOed till now? Lemme think…..No one! Until of course, the T in TKO doesn’t count.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

I agree.. I have never seen him KO anyone. I have seen him submit, TKO and decision…. The hype train has 40% of people thinking he has KO power.

      • Clarence Worley says:

TKO is a very likely outcome, I think most of those choosing KO are thinking stoppage via strikes, rather than knocked unconscious. I could see Lyoto getting turled up against the cage and “not intelligently defending himself”

Lyoto is a great fighter and I think the most interesting matchup within the 205 division for Jones… that said, I think he is going to have serious problems here. (Honestly I think he’s gonna get his ass kicked)

His whole stay at a distance and counterstrike style is not likely to be effective giving up that much size and reach.

Lyoto’s TDD and sumo wrestling probably won’t be able to nullify Jone’s wrestling either, and with Jones rocking a solid 100% TDD in the UFC, I don’t see Lyoto being in any good positions on the mat.

So he has to stand and trade with a guy with a huge reach advantage, who can probably put him on his back at any point if he decides to. not good.

        • jacob lee says:

I feel the exact opposite. Machida is a phenominal muy thai and karate striker. He trains with Anderson Silva so the reach and diversity of strikes problem is covered. He trains with Junior Dos Santos, so the boxing-potential punching power problem is covered. He has been doing sumo longer than jones has been alive. And sumo like Grecco Roman or Freestyle or any other type of wrestling is still wrestling. Plus Lyoto’s jiu jitsu is way to good for Jones. He has been a black belt in jiu jitsu and karate since before Jones ever even thought about training mixed martial arts. Jones is being told what to do by Greg Jackson and Mike Winkle John. Lyoto is telling other people what to do because he is a martial arts instructor. Lyoto has trained with King Mo and although he might not be as good at wrestling he still is good. If hall of famer Randy Couture can’t take him down then Jones for sure can’t. Machida has been knocked out and knows what it feels like and how hard and where you have to get hit. Lyoto has also knocked people out, Jones hasn’t. Lyoto has gone 5 rounds, jones hasn’t. Lyoto has more wins and fights than Jones. There is really no way he can win, Lyoto is getting the belt back for sure

        • phace says:

I didn’t see anywhere that Machida was training with Anderson “The Spider” Silva nor Junior Dos Santos for this fight. He trained with a different Anderson Silva though. Yes, Machida has a lot of skills and brings a threat to Jonny Bones, however some of your comparisons make no sense. Randy Couture was 47 years old and on the verge of retirement when Lyoto stuffed his takedowns. You can’t compare that to Jones who took down every opponent he felt like taking to the ground. He WILL put Lyoto on his back without problems. The question is how well Lyoto gets back up. Jones did just fine 4 rounds with Rampage. He didn’t appear to be tired at all and he was doing all the work. Not to mention that he has had ALL FINISHES in his last 7 fights(including 2 guys that have wins on record over Machida). I like both fighters but we have to be realistic and fair here. Lyoto having a black belt or being a Martial Arts Instructor doesn’t equate to him winning. There’s a lot more to this than a person having a belt. I give Jones the edge but anything is possible.

        • Zack says:

He does train with silva but idk if he did for this fight with silva being hurt. But we did see Anderson training with wandy so whO knows. Bottom line if lyoto did have Anderson to train with for this fight it’s a huge advantage

      • D says:

        you guys are both retarded

    • mmaislandjunkie says:

his elbows make alot of ppl quit. vera, shogun, matyushenko, anyone who discredits his ko power becuz his opponents quit before getting ko’d obviously dont notice how damaging his elbows are.

    • Lambo says:

There should have been a TKO option…

    • Freddy says:

Well brandon Veras Eyesocket would argue with u and matt hamill wasnt really the same afterwards

  3. canilive says:

i woulda said TKO, but ima go with submission. Jon doesn’t need to do some crazy jiu jitsu, he will out wrestle Machida if it comes to that.

  4. Donnybrook says:

I’ve got Jones by decision cause that’s what’s going to happen…

  5. JB Spencer says:

I got jones by TKO in the second. Jones is too long and strong for machidas fighting style to work, he will be able to be ellusive and avoid alot of jones’ strikes n takedowns but you have to do more than be ellusive to win a fight.

  6. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Jones in the 4th by submission, arm triangle choke.

  7. Wes says:

Machida because his broken english after a win is the best!

  8. Ninjaman says:

    Machida by calf crank!

  9. I think i see a weakness in Jones. Not in his skill set or even his mental state.Jones has tooth picks for legs.I don’t think Jones’s legs can withstand a barrage of leg kicks.I think IF and do say IF Machida can land heavy leg kicks on Jones multiple times i don’t think Jones’s legs could withstand it.Once Jones’s legs are damaged Jones would be out of the fight. Can Machida damage Jones’s legs without taking damage himself?Who knows. This is all theory of course i could be wrong. But thats the only weakness i see in Jones.Of course the other unknown is.Can Jones take a punch. His chin has’nt been tested yet.

    • Clarence Worley says:

It is a good strategy, but I would think as soon as Jones started taking kicks, he’d just put Lyoto on the mat.

He has ragdolled everyone he has faced, including some very decorated wrestlers, no reason to believe that Lyoto is going to be able to stop Jone’s takedowns when Rampage, Vera, Matushenko, Bader etc all found themselves on their backs against Jones.

    • "H"BOMB says:

we all have seen machida can’t take that great of shots either INCUDING leg kicks, body shots etc. pretty even in that stand point but once it hits the mat which jones will be on top for, elbows and a barrage of strikes

      • eldin says:

he got battered by kicks in the 1st rua fight… and not many ppl can take wat he gives

        • Michael says:

I do think Jones is far superior as a wrestler but do not discount Machida’s Sumo background. Sumo is comparable to Judo when in the clinch especially in a defense clinch, like over hooks. I see Jones trying to push Machida against the cage. I selected Machida by TKO, but only because that is what I want to happen, I put my money on Jones finishing the fight because he is way too big for most light heavy weights. He is in fact a Heavy fighting at 205

        • Ethan says:

they have spoke of his end goal being at heavyweight before

  10. P R O D I G Y says:

It ends with Jon Jones laying on Machida to a boring ass decision like all his fights.

  11. Taimanglo says:

    Jones by rear naked choke.

  12. jones is overrated says:

seriously jones by ko? who has he ever koed? he has no knockout power whats so ever. all he does is make guys afraid of his takedowns and try to look like hes doing something on the feet. when has he ever gone all stand up on anyone.

  13. magoo says:

I believe Jones will defeat him in which way he chooses,be it a sub/KO,or tko this fight may not even go to the 2nd round, thats right he will freak all you non believers the fukc out!

  14. jeff says:

here’s a better way to say jones doesn’t really have knockout power, he hasn’t knocked any UFC fighters out, not yet anyways, and he’s never gone to decision its either, tko or sub, and he has 2 KO wins btw, in other promotions and you can’t just count his UFC career

  15. jeff says:

and i have Jones in the second by submission:)

  16. Night-Wind says:

Jones by submission. Should have been more choices though.

  17. Fuck-yea-mma says:

machida by decision. remember UFC 104, machida decisions shogun.

  18. Mike says:

Machida by KO. Book it. How’s my big pee pee taste.

  19. Night-Wind says:

Week ago, i saw a dream where Bones got knocked out. Geez.

  20. Nick L says:

jones by spinning backflip heel kick, with cheese.

  21. lalo diesel says:

jones is 100% reach and unorthodox elbows back in the head … i hope lyoto kick his unorthodox ass…

  22. G says:

Yeah, they didn’t put “TKO” on this list, so most people are just picking “Wins By KO” meaning both most likely…

  23. Nick says:

A TKO counts as a KO, just because I chose KO doesn’t mean I see Lyoto being put to sleep. It will be stopped. Jones doesn’t have that KO power but he can stop guys.

  24. Nat says:

it will be a good fight.. I am going for Machida if anyone can comes close it’s him

  25. Josh says:

Everyone is counting KO as TKO. Thats how it is on your record and thats how the poll is written.

  26. AAxAntonio says:

i like both fighters, both are very tough, but i think the dragon can get a decision, maybe even test his chin a little bit, should be good cant wait

  27. Hostile Hunter says:

Jones by tko do to nasty elbows from the top. This doesnt go father then the 3rd round.

  28. GRT 3000 says:

I like both these fighters (class guys), but ultimately more of a Machida fan. That being said, he’s going to get his ass kicked.

  29. Ethan says:

    dan henderson via double ko

  30. Jeff says:

I want Machida to time a spinning backfist and KO Jones. Will it happen, who knows. Machida has great speed and timing, so you never know. I’ll say this though, if Jones runs thru Machida, I will be imprezzed, but still not a fan. Maybe he’ll grow on me though. Should be an interesting fight.
