Georges St Pierre Feels Other Fighters Would Benefit From Being More Professional

Georges St Pierre comments to MMA Fighting.
St Pierre comments on major UFC sponsor Anheuser-Busch warning the promotion that they would take action if fighters did not carry themselves more professionally.
St Pierre was asked if fellow fighters should clean up their acts.
“This is something that I’ve been doing since the beginning of my career,” St-Pierre said. “I wore a suit at press conferences when all the other fighters were making fun of me. (They said), ‘Oh, look at St-Pierre, he doesn’t wear his sponsor.’ I’m the one who first started doing this stuff, and I think the image and how you conduct yourself … because the sponsor, the big companies in corporate America, they’re not interested in sponsoring an athlete who is good in his sport but acts like an idiot outside of the Octagon. They want someone who performs well, of course, but acts like a gentleman outside of the Octagon.
“I understood that more than ten years ago. That’s why I behave the way I do and I do things that I do. That’s why I have a lot of sponsors. I do have a lot of sponsors and a lot of money because of this. It brings money to the table.”
“I’m in this business because I want to make it for a living, for money,” he said rather passionately. “People don’t understand that. They used to make fun of me. Now ten years after, now they start picking up on it. It’s sad to see that it takes a long time for them to understand.”

I wonder is GSP thinks other fighters would also benefit by being as EXTREMELY BORING as he is. I can’t even remember the last time GSP actually got in a REAL TRUE scrap and not a jabbberfest, point fighting Greg Jackson inspired BOREFEST.
I still laugh when i think of GSP’sa most famous qoute.

No offense to you but for the most part everywhere I’ve worked say they want leaders but would rather have sheep.
The problem with always wearing suits is I don’t even know who sponsors GSP.
Under Armour is probably one of his biggest sponsors. Affliction as well. The way I see it, it’s better to wear a suit than a Tee and jeans to a post fight presser.
Why is it better? Seems like a stupid idea to me. These guys are fighters, not basketball players. That’s why I love guys like BJ. He doesn’t feel the need to put on some fake act to impress anybody. You’re lucky if he shows up to an interview wearing a shirt and shoes!
Some fighters have class respect and swagger,nothin wrong with pimpin in a custom made suit, we always wore suits when traveling playing hockey, kinda like shakin hands after the game…no big deal!
And yet he’s still getting paid by his sponsors and he has some of the biggest sponsors out there…

I understand with the injury, and I’m no doc, but damn he sure seems like he’s milking that shit. And the 2 fights a year shit is ****ing stupid, too. For ****’s sake if all you’re gonna do is lay on somebody you should at least do it 3 times a year.
GSP barely fights once ayear anymore. sure if you average it over his career maybe twice year but he is milking the title and his injury and his daysa re numbered as the UFC WW champ. New breed of fighters like Ellenberger and Hendricks will make him fight and all his Greg Jackson ***** ass gameplans won’t keep him from getting KO’d. These new guys have 5 times the power of Matt Serra and will only have to touch his chin and it will be over. Fans (ouside canada) could careless about GSP anymore. Even dana got fed up with GSP backing out of big fights last year so he immedaitly said nuf is nuf time to get an interim champ that will keep the divsion moving cause all GSP bullshit (FAKED) injuries caused a log jam and now with new WW that fans are exciting to see fight Dana did right thing. GSP backed out of Diaz and Condit fight and admitted his knee was ok to fight. I would bet half the otehr fighters are fighting with partial tears in ACL. GSP used it as excuse to keep his belt longer now he’s milking it for everything its worth. I would bet anything GSP doesn’t have balls to stand up with Diaz or Condit or Ellenbeger, or Hendricks

He destroyed Hughes, serra, alves was out classed, yalls hero bj Penn had his bro throw in the towel, he broke koschecks face, he would’ve broke hardys arm but the guy is made of rubber and only lytle made him tap via choke, he beat shields with ONE eye. He isn’t ducking Silva Dana prevents that fight saying the size is too big a difference n that they both have other fights in their division. It isn’t GSPs fault he completely out classes his opponents and make them look “boring.” Open your eyes and realize what it is he does in the cage.

Yep totally lame excuses. No way GSP can ever be considered P4P he was always afraid to fight anyone he felt might be bigger as he always has to have size advantage. To me P4P means DaN Hendersen, and BJ penn guys who fight anyone in any weight class.
All 15 lbs of muscle would do to GSP is make him not near as fast and i think he would even be less effective against Silva. No he has speed advantage now with takedowns but once he put on msucle Silva would tear him up even worse. as you totally lame excuse. GSP just needs to man up and admit he doesn’t want anything to do with A Silva plain and simple. do you blame him? he would get killed
All these guys bitching about St Pierre are gonna be the ones jumping on the GSP bandwagon when he comes back and smashes Condit ….. Say whatever you want he is the best fighter in UFC and a great ambassador for the sport he wins by thinking and being a great athlete and competitor using his tool to his advantage !
If all UFC fighters fought like GSP the UFC would go out of business. All GSP cares about is not losing he afrid to scrap with anyone since Serra KO’d him and he will now forever be remembered as being a boring fighter just like Jon “lay n pray” Fitch
