Phil Davis Takes Positives From Loss To Rashad And Remains Confident He Will Eventually Become Champion | UFC News

Phil Davis comments in an interview with MMAFighting.com
Davis lost in his last bout to Rashad Evans back in January at UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis. This marked the first loss in his professional career moving him to (9-1) overall.
“I still find that fight to be a little bit of a milestone. I haven’t been in the sport for that long and I stayed with a guy whose been doing it two or three times longer than I have, so its just, you know, it is what it is. I don’t feel like its necessary a fall off the horse type of situation. It’s not something I’d say I could forget about, but I don’t dwell on it either. My motivation for winning was never beating Rashad, it’s to be a champion. That’s the one constant throughout my career, and you know, nothing about my overall plan for success has changed. I still want to be the champion, I’m still 100 percent confident I’ll be there, and just approach every day as such.”
Davis faces Wagner Prado in his next bout at UFC on FOX 4 and will be looking to get back to winning ways against the undefeated Brazilian (8-0).
“I’ve got a job to do. Its the same thing, you know, whether its Rashad or whether its Prado, it’s the same job, I’ll be in the same Octagon. Doesn’t matter whether anyone knows his name. I don’t go out there and worry about my opponent. I just go out and try to make myself the best fighter in the world, and the best fighter in the world will beat anybody in the cage. It’s a simple plan and it doesn’t change.”
A win over Prado may not put Davis in line for an immediate title shot however with an impressive victory or finish he may not find himself too far away.

Nobody in the UFC sucks sir. That’s why theyre there. Phil only lost one fight. There’s way too many ignorant so called MMA fans in these online discussions. Someone needs to monitor the comments and delete the B.S. being written down.

For real he is just a wrestler for sure will never make it back to top for sure!!
This is funny. Sadly he will never be a champ unless Jones moves up and the older guys leave and noone really good comes along, I guess has youth on his side somewhat. He really a wrestler w/ a bit of fight. Needs to adapt or get thrown out. Yea he lost to an ex champ but those are the fights he needs to win not guys on his field. Go from b to a squad. . He will be a gatekeeper watch.
Well first of all how do you know he will never make it. Second he is a great athlete, third all you idiots that think that way probably think gustafson will be champio
Look who’s in the division. He will not get sat them ubill older really old and retire and jones moves up to HW. While hoping the class doesn’t get anyone who takes over after. He’s a good wrestler bit not much up
