Pettis: Move To 145 Not Permanent

“A lot of things led to my cutting down to 145. I was tired of waiting for a 155-pound title shot. It’s not a permanent weight cut (to featherweight). But a striker like myself and Aldo, it doesn’t really matter what weight class it happens at. It’s going to be fireworks either way.”

UFC lightweight, turned featherweight title-challenger, Anthony Pettis recently sat down with the New York Post to discuss his drop down a division and what that means for his fighting future.

  1. Big Daddy says:

Aldo is going to send his ass back to lightweight that’s why it’s not permanent. But then Aldo is going after that title so it would probably be better for Pettis at 145.

  2. Sean says:

This is going to be a good fight! Pettis beat Henderson and look what he’s done lately.

    • GOT RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

Pettis should have been sent to back of the line after that disgraceful LOSS to Guida. Pettis has no answer to wrestlers PERIOD.

  3. KIDD433 says:

Hopefully he stays at 145,Their’s more talent at 145 and better fights for him than 155.

    Not new.145 hasJose Aldo,Brad Picket,Dustin Porrier,korean zombie,Ricardo Lamas,Frankie Edgar,Cub Swansn,OliveiraC,Chad Méndez,and now Pettis.Count the talent at 155…Thought so…u guys r living in the past.145 is the new 155

Lets see 155 has Pat Healy, Jim Miller, Ben Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, Donald Cerrone, Edson Barboza, Tony Ferguson, Yves Edwards, Gray Maynard, Anthony Njokuani, KJ Noons, Diego Sanchez, Sam Stout, and Josh Thomson. Plenty of interesting matches for him. The fact that there is a 10 pound difference in 145 and 155. I think you need to go study up on basic math.

    Sam stout,Yves Edwards,Diego Sánchez?Thats the best u can come up with?Hilarious…

  6. VALE TUDO 101 says:

Cody u r an idiot.Diego Sanchez is a joke, would have been cut long ago,had it not been for his robbery wins against Gomi and Kampman. And 145 has more talent too In my opinion.

I consider myself lucky to get to see a great fight at a compromised weight. Both 45 and 55 are crazy ass classes and I couldn’t pick a favorite but I’d say the difference to me is the wrestling at 55 is dominant and 45 is an ecleptic mix of styles. Of course both classes are strong in everyway but 55 is gonna throw more wrestlers at Pettis and I could see him wanting to make a statement after the Guida fight that he’s been workin hard to strengthen this area of his game. The weight cut in this fight also intrigues me considering Aldo doesn’t seem to have as much control in managing the muscle he’s producing. I think Pettis manages his overall diet better or he’s just naturaly better in this way. These freaks are definitely two of my faves but I’ll be holding and waving a little American flag this night and hoping for another American champ.

@Ddddddd.Good analysis with some intel to back it.This website needs more posters like that. Not the bunch of trolls we seam to have

2 of my favorite fighters. Both these dudes could beat eachother on any given night. FOTY fo sho. And it doesnt matter where pettis fights, 45&55 both got alotta talent. But the Bendo fight needs to happen
