Pennington to replace injured Pena at UFC 171
Raquel Pennington has replaced injured Julianna Pena at UFC 171.
Pennington (4-3) will fight Jessica Andrade (10-3) in a bantamweight bout.
UFC officials announced the change.
It was reported Wednesday that Pena suffered a severe knee injury.
UFC 171 takes place March 15 at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Pennington, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 18″ made her UFC debut at the TUF 18 Finale and posted a decision victory over Roxanne Modafferi. It ended a two-fight losing streak for Pennington, who fell to Cat Zingano and Leslie Smith with Invicta FC before joining the “TUF 18″ cast.
Andrade made her UFC debut at UFC on FOX 8 and lost to former UFC title challenger Liz Carmouche via second-round TKO. She rebounded in October at UFC Fight Night 30 event with a decision win over Rosi Sexton.
