Pedro Rizzo: Anderson Silva Told Me ‘He’ll be back’

“At the hospital, Anderson told me ‘I will be back, master. I will be back. I told him ‘yeah, you’ll be back home to recover and rest’. And he said ‘I will be back, master.’ He’s a fighter. He has six months to recover, heal and then decide what he’s going to do next.

“He has everything to come back to fighting if he wants. He has a good head to handle all the pressure from the UFC through all these years. Anderson will decide that. He just broke a leg, he has a lot of things to think now. He has nothing left to prove inside the Octagon. But if he decides to fight again, we will be there to help him.”

In a recent interview with MMAFighting.com, Pedro Rizzo, one of Anderson Silva’s coaches and mentor’s, says that the former middleweight champion will be back after his injury.

Fans of Silva are going to hate this but he doesn’t merit another fight with Weidman at this time. If he fights a few guys and shows that he’s still got it then maybe OK. Even so I don’t think he can beat Weidman. What’s left for Weidman to do to him before people accept that Silva just isn’t up to it anymore. Whether or not he would have beat Weidman in his prime, we’ll never know. But now, we know. He lost twice, convincingly. I have no hate for Silva, he was a great fighter but at 39, he needs to retire.

i don’t mind watching him try (and probably lose a few) and then retire… maybe won’t look good but it is interesting to see the old ones try (and I’m older than them all… couture, liddell, and now silva)

He will still be remembered as the GOAT in the middle weight division. He can retire with hos head held high and not ever need to second guess the decision.
Although I would have enjoyed seeing a Bones or GSP superfight.

  3. craig gadson says:

He has proven his self . At his age its only going to get worst. + he will have a target on that leg!! Retire with the respect he has..

  4. GWalcott says:

Couture was the man at 47

  5. Donnie Patterson Jr. says:

I think Silva still creates some cool matchups at MW even if he isn’t fighting for the title, or possibly LHW
