Patrick Cote Explains The Difficulties With Fighting Anderson Silva | UFC NEWS

“It’s very complicated to fight [Anderson Silva] because you never know what’s going to happen or what he’s going to do. We saw what he did Saturday night. Once again he did something new. He was staying against the fence and he was playing with Bonnar. Bonnar is no joke. Bonnar is a good fighter. He’s tough. He’s durable, and [Silva] was playing with him like a little kid… It’s hard to explain how to fight him, because if you go forward, he’s behind you. You try to hit him, and he’s not there. It’s very, very weird. It’s hard to hit him very clean with a very powerful shot. That’s why it’s hard to punch him very, very hard, because he’s moving so fast and he’s playing with the angles very, very well… You have to stay on your game plan. It’s very, very hard. I remember [against] me, he was playing with his hands. He was doing some crazy footwork, like the new Bruce Lee or something like that, but I would stay on my game plan, but that was very, very hard for me because I like to go forward. I like to push the pace, but at the time, I knew that was exactly what he wanted. I think he’s very, very confident about himself and he thinks that he’s unbeatable. He thinks that nobody can beat him, nobody can hurt him. Saturday night he received an elbow right in the face. He received a right cross right in his face and he was standing there and he was talking to his cornerman … . He was like, ‘All right, calm down, guys. I know what I’m doing.’ He’s so in control about his game, so in control in his head. That’s why I think he’s so dangerous.”

Former middleweight title challenger Patrick “The Predator” Cote, tells that fighting Anderson Silva is confusing, weird and dangerous.

Cote once fought Silva back in 2008 at UFC 90 where he ultimately lost when his knee blew out and was forced out of the fight in the third round.

At the time, Cote was the only man to make it to round three against Anderson Silva in the UFC.

lol that’s exactly what Griffin said. Seems like he has a perfect sense for where the next punch is aimed at. The Nike t-shirts have “Spider Knows” printed, that is so appropriate because he truly knows what his opponents are going to do.

  2. Dee says:

It’s like rolling with a real black belt. After the first sequence you get this feeling that you’re in his world.

  3. Haha says:

    Something Jon Jones doesnt possess.

    • Shatta says:

lol jones is a kid in the sport ..he’s a great fighter but he doesnt possess what the spider does..the confidence and skill level … silva was knocking guys out since before ufc ..only now jon is showcasing his skills

  4. Secludedly says:

His confidence in his head, his train of thought, it’s what makes him unbeatable. He doesn’t look at fights as fights. He creates this world of his own where he can play, and knows nothing will happen to him. He believes he is great, likes to play, explores new ideas. This is why people who come in with game plans will never win. When you think and go for a single pattern, you’re not fighting on instinct and you’re planning your moves. You can read it in an opponent’s eyes when they are about to do something, because the opponent becomes predictable.

I think Cote was very very hard for Silva when he did this interview. With that said, he has never been the same since that Silva fight.

  6. JoeBen says:

Silva used telekinesis to blow his knee out.

  7. Josiah says:

    silva gameplan:
    -know the opponent’s gameplan
    -go for the kill

silva knows how to fight and react to his opponents attacks, thats just it…

    • EP says:

lmao DODGE guess u didnt the fight when Silva was literally toying with Bonnar against the cage hands down to his side eating punches and elbows like they were nothing … putting his legacy on the line when he knew ONLY way bonnar could win was by big KO… still he toyed with him, showed him why he is the undisputed GOAT, and then when he was ready , he made his moved and finished w flying knee. do u people not understand how good he is… there will never be another Anderson Silva ever again… i am honored and privileged i was alive to see him fight. most amazing fighter in any combat sport i have ever witnessed in my life. and i dont care what anyone says, he would destroy jones. without a doubt. not even u for discussion A SILVA = LIVING LEGEND

  8. CombatRusse says:

I remember watching a training session with Anderson Silva rolling on the map, but he was allowing his training partners to punch him on the jaw like it was nothing!
I have a question, did anyone see Anderson getting dazed by a strike (punch, kick or whatever)?
Even Fedor got rocked. But neither Anderson nor BJ Penn. Those people were created to fight.

  9. Xaninho says:

He took Henderson’s H-bomb and didn’t even blink.
