Pat Healy Tests Positive for Marijuana Following “Fight of the Night” Win Over Jim Miller

By Jake Chastain

| The Pot Patrol has flashed its lights once again. This time it’s newly acquired UFC lightweight, Pat “Bam Bam” Healy.

Following one of the most exciting, hard fought and important wins of his career Pat Healy tested positive for marijuana. The positive test comes on the heels of his UFC debut in which he dominated Jim Miller in New Jersey at UFC 159 in a scrap that ended up also winning him “Fight of the Night” honors on April 27th.

Healy released a formal statement through Josh House, CEO of Iridium Sports Agency, apologizing for his misfortunate failed drug test. Here is the statement:

“I would like to start off by apologizing to the UFC, Jim Miller, the MMA community, it’s fans, my family, teammates and coaches for my positive testing for marijuana after my UFC 159 fight with Jim Miller. I was fully aware of the UFC and State Commissions drug policies and made poor life choices. I stand behind the UFC and the State Commission’s disciplinary actions. I support efforts to make MMA and sports a clean, safe and fair place to compete. First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge and take responsibility for my mistake. I made a very poor choice to socially use marijuana and now I must face the consequences of that choice. I can assure you that I will do everything the UFC and State Commission asks of me and beyond. I will also make a conscious effort to be a better role model within the MMA community.”

Neither the UFC nor the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board have commented on the issue. These two entities will eventually be responsible for passing down fines, suspensions, and ultimately turning his outstanding performance from a “win” to a “no-contest” for the petty marijuana infraction.

Awesome statement. Good to see he took responsibility for knowing it is against the rule and law in most places, as well as against UFC and athletic commission policy. Unfortunate choice but he didn’t try to justify a bad decision. Most of these other sorry ass fucking smokers on here and other places should take a lesson from this on following the rules and not trying to make shit up in order to justify doing the wrong thing…..fucking smokers! Thanks Pat for your honesty good job and I hope you come back off this mistake.

He made a decision at a social event to intoxicate his body to enhance how he felt for THAT evening.
      NOT FOR THE FIGHT!
      YOU DUMB-ASSES.

He could have done that a month before the fight and it still would have been in his system. AND just for the heck of it, he also could have been in Amsterdam
at the time, where it is 100% legal to smoke.

This is why it’s really not a mistake. Pot is not a Performance Enhancing Substance! Just like Alcohol is NOT A PERFORMANCE ENHANCING SUBSTANCE!

      ****ING DUMB-ASSES!!!

and only a moron would read that “statement” and truly believe it was sincere and from Pat himself.

Ha ha ha, everyone knows his lawyers wrote that.

      • korean jesus says:

Grow the fuck up you immature bitch.

      • 757 says:

Shut the fuck up you stupid mother fucker ^^^868. Everyone knows it wasn’t for the fight dick head. I said he took responsibility you little 10th grader. That’s why you have such a fucked view. Stupid ass the statement is from him or his people but he must approve it you dork. Get the fuck off the site dick head. It’s not legal to smoke, possess, sell, weed yet so you will have to wait….idiot

    • korean jesus says:

I agree. I used to smoke, but then I recently realized that I gotta grow the fuck up and take control of my mind and myself. A lotta yall recreational weed smokers should stop bitching about legalization, and stop making excuses to smoke weed. Keep your mind sharp.

      • Forby says:

Says the moron that smoked it and never got caught. If you got caught one of the times you smoked it and had to go through the system like other people do, for something everyone does (especially you yourself) you would be singing a different tune. guess you only grew up in age, you definitely didn’t grow intellectually. It should be legal and not a banned substance for athletes anyway. it is only illegal because they like to control people lives and the best way to control the masses is to control the people they look up to. But i guess you aren’t smart enough to figure that shit out. Korean Jesus.

        • 757 says:

But it is BANNED AND NOT LEGAL…..YOU CAN’T SMOKE IT AND GET CAUGHT AND CRY ABOUT IT NOT BEING LEGAL. If you fight in the company it is a banned substance. Smarten up fuck up and quit crying

      • 757 says:

^^^^Great statement and point Korean Jesus. I agree

  2. SuperKid says:

Ummmm…. Has any one who is making these rules and labeling this a PED, ever even smoked weed??? I mean. (not that I do anymore) When I smoked weed I could barely raise my arms, let alone participate in physical activity. Weed is a downer, not a get shredded in a week-er! Such hypocracy. You got people whom have never been in a fight, making rules for those whom fight for a living.

    • 757 says:

Super Kid nobody is calling it a PED they are saying it’s banned. Nobody in the article called it banned you must have smoked weed before writing this….Little kids should be seen and not heard. Go hang out with 868

  3. Slim Charles says:

he trained with bj so……. haha jk

  4. McLovin says:

That sucks. That was a wicked fight.

    • car dee oh says:

we need more people like this guy commenting on this website, too many of you arguing for the sake of it.

  5. ThisGuy says:

Dude 757 chill the fuck out. People make one comment and you go off cussing them out. You have some serious anger and cyber-tough-guy problems. Which is way worse than someone using a harmless drug. And weed doesn’t dull your mind. I smoked quite a few times in my life and I still managed full-ride scholarships off my grades without the slightest problem, as well as being successful in basically everything I did and still do, even if I didn’t try at all. Not to be conceded or anything, just saying. It isn’t smoking pot that makes people bad, it’s bad people smoking pot that makes pot look bad.
