NSAC Discloses Full Amount OF Nick Diaz Fine | UFC NEWS

By Evan Stoumbelis

At UFC 143 Nick Diaz lost to Carlos Condit, making Condit the interim welterweight champion. After the fight, Diaz failed a drug test, testing positive for marijuana metabolites, and was fined 30% of his fight purse. In an interview today, NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed that Diaz was fined more than 30% of his $200,000. Original reports were that Diaz was fined $60,000 but Keith Kizer said that Diaz’ fine was actually $79,000.

Diaz was also awarded another $300,000 for media commitments. Why such a high amount for publicity commitments? Earlier in his career, Diaz was on track to meet Georges St. Pierre for a title match, but after failing to show up to several pre-fight press conferences Diaz never got the opportunity.

In April Diaz was also a no-show for his BJJ Super fight with Barulio Estima. In short, Diaz has a history of no-shows, which may have made an impact on his punishment for failing his drug test after UFC 143.

  1. Dirty Sanchez says:

Who cares about this dickwad, I guess Dana had to show him some money for him to show up. He should just go to boxing like he wants to, hes always bitchin that he wants money and that what he was making he couldn’t buy a house with. If he wasn’t spending so much cash on that fine hash he could buy several houses.

  2. Tsimanga says:

I care.. Nick’s an awesome fighter ya douche.

  3. stephen riddle says:

Nick is a very good fighter and just cause he blazes doesnt make him anyless of a fighter

  4. Jeff says:

    Keith Kizer=criminal

  5. Bobby says:

He is a good fighter, but he’s not a good person. and good things happen to good people. I’m glad he’s out of the ufc. MMA is about respect for your opponent and the art of self defense. Ufc is slowly losing that with exception to a few fighters.

    • Thurgood Jenkins says:

Is your comment about him not being a good person based on personal knowledge, or just what the media has shown you?

    • Bob'O says:

He’s not “out of the UFC”, he’s just suspended for 1 year from fighting. ~Bob’O

  6. Yo Papi says:

Nicks the best WW in the world. Gtfo

  7. duckface says:

bobby you need to stfu, such a clown you clearly know nothing about diaz or his family, and he is not out of the ufc.

  8. GET RID OF FITCH (forever) says:

NIck unlike most of layn prayers, wall n stallers, track stars isa REAL FIGHTER. Commisiosn are so friggen corrupt it makes me sick. Nate “THE CHEAT” Marquardt gets BUSTED for illegal steroids in 2007 DECA/NANDROLONE and they give him a $2500 fine but then give Diaz $80k fine for pot. Keith Kizer si the biggest pile of shit ever. It seems like with all that cash they stole from Nick tehy would be able to afford testing all the CHEATERS liek GSP and Rory for HGH. Oh but they can’t afford it is their excuse and yes they know all the weathly fighters are on HGH but their hands are tied because its too expensive to test for it along with non-detectable ROIDS ie: what Victor Conte has Kyle Kings bury pushing to all fighters he can prob for a huge % of profit and FREE gear (ROIDS)

  9. jones says:

once again i agree with fitch killer… nick finally makes some money an they totally **** him,,,,i hope nick sits out and really does not fight until he gets a rematch with condit or a shot at gsp…the ww division has been boring ley n prey style fr too long,..its always about guys winning a boring decision..we need fighters like nick in this..

  10. Dick Diaz says:

$300,000 for media commitments? sorry dana, but i’m sure a lot of people now have a moral excuse to stream…

    • Bob'O says:

Compared to what Floyd Mayweather gets payed for running away for 12 rounds I say good for Nick Diaz, who always brings it. Take care of the fighters who actually fight old school UFC style, not the Frankie Edgars who seem to think that they are in a Boxing match. I would penalize for running away over 1 minute, which that in itself is way too long. Anyway, Good job UFC! ~Bob’O
