No broken hand for Hendricks, wants GSP in August | UFC NEWS
A big sigh of relief was had by UFC President Dana White, and millions of MMA fans as they all learned that Johny Hendricks, the number one contender in the Welterweight division, did not break his hand at UFC 158.
In between rounds during his fight last weekend against Carlos Condit, he voiced concern over his vaunted left hand. The word spread quickly and the worst case scenario of a broken hand was thought to be the injury. At the post fight presser he revealed that he might have broken the hand in the first round. Hendricks continued to throw the left hand through the rest of the fight, which shows his heart and determination to win.
Upon the release of medical suspensions Hendricks was only given a 14-day suspension with no mention of a hand injury. Then after the weekend was over and he noticed the swelling in his hand had gone down Hendricks decided to put off going to the doctor.
THANKS for the concern! Update on my hand: it was feeling so much better today I decided not to go to the doc. Recovery going good!

Now that the hand injury scare is gone, Hendricks has focused on taking on Georges St. Pierre in August of this year. There are two scheduled events in August; UFC 163 and UFC 164. UFC 163 is scheduled for August 3rd, but that has Featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis already booked as the Main Event. The UFC 164 set for August 31st in Milwaukee is still in need of a headlining bout.

Why not go to the doc anyway? Can’t be too sure!
If it was broken, it would be thew size of a watermelon and black and blue and hurt like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I wouldn’t go to the doc either. Now it’s on GSP and Hendricks. Let’s just hope Weidman puts old man Silva out to pasture.
I broke my hand in three places once and it did hurt like hell, but it was just slightly swollen and apart from two knuckles not black and blue at all. I knew bones were broken because they were sticking out though.
Ouch!! bones sticking out suck….
I hype-extended one my fingers throwing this dude with a suplay and it caused a hairlins crack on the knuckle. It just fell sore and I finished out the meet. The next day my hand was 2x its normal size and black and blue throbbing terribly.
You better get that baby healed up so when you punch Goerges in the face and wobble him like he does everytime he gets hit,you can stop his takedown and punch him one more time. Because I’ve got a hunch that’s all it’s gonna take.
Breaking News – Johnny’s hand was never broken – he just knew he couldn’t beat Condit unless he out pointed him in TD’s. Up against the point master nxt fight – will be a real snoozer imo.
I agree totally. Hendricks promised a stand-up war and a KO finish but was outclassed on the feet. So he resorted to takedowns and used a hand injury as excuse for the LnP parts of the fight.
I agree ^^ he knew Condit was coming on so he went to the take downs.
Condit was finding his range and Hendricks didn’t want to stand with him?!.. NO WAY!! Wasn’t like there was a title shot on the line or anything…
well most idiots wouldn’t figure that out Sherlock. Sounds like you condone that type of shit then?
at any rate, real fight fans know what time it is. GSP will out point JH’s cheap ass – yawn. I’m looking forward to the next Condit fight.
