Nelson, Cormier Set For UFC 166 Co-Main Event

Fan favorite Roy Nelson has re-signed with the UFC and has also inked a blockbuster fight.

The Houston Chronicle first reported, and then it was later confirmed by the UFC, that Nelson will face fellow top-10 heavyweight Daniel Cormier in the co-main event of UFC 166.

Cormier is 12-0 and pushed hard for the fight through social media. Nelson is 19-8 is coming off a loss to Stipe Miocic, a fight he took on short notice for UFC 161. At the time, it was the last fight on his UFC contract.

Cormier has toyed with the idea of dropping to light heavyweight. His AKA teammate, Cain Velasquez is the division’s current champion.

UFC 166 will be held on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Velasquez will face No. 1 contender Junior dos Santos in the main event.

great match up…the cool thing is that they both can bang, but we have yet to see either man’s ground game. I hoping Cormier takes Big Country down so we can see what both of them can do.
If not, a stand and bang fight is always good…
