Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller Now UFC on FOX 3 Main Event, Scheduled For Five-Rounds

The UFC announced late last night that the lightweight matchup between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller will now serve as the main event of the UFC on FOX 3 card and it’s scheduled for five-rounds.

UFC on FOX 3 will go down on May 5 from New Jersey’s Izod Center.

Nate Diaz is the second half of one of the most dominant families in Mixed Martial Arts today. After an impressive run in the lightweight division, the “Ultimate Fighter” winner took to the welterweight division where he successfully dispatched Rory Markham and Marcus Davis before dropping his next two bouts.

The consecutive losses sent him packing back down to the lightweight division where he has since destroyed Takanori Gomi and Donald Cerrone.

The next chapter for Diaz is none other than New Jersey’s own Jim Miller.

Jim Miller has had an equally, if not more, impressive run in the UFC as the Stocktonian. Since entering the UFC in 2008 the lightweight standout has gone an impressive 10-2. His lone losses came at the hands of former number one contender Gray Maynard and current title challenger Benson Henderson.

A proven force in the division, Miller was last seen on the UFC on FX debut card headlining against Melvin Guillard. He took the fight via submission in the very first round of action.

In this classic east vs. west matchup the winner is likely next in-line for a shot at the UFC title currently held by Frankie Edgar.

    Nate diaz… ‘all day!’
Good fight, good matchup and good idea for a fox ufc cause thers no way this will be a boring fight. Gota go wit my boy nate on this one ‘all day!’

This being a five rounder shakes things up and might make it a different kinda fight cause i dont see either of them geting finished. I can see those extra two rounds really making a difference in the outcom of this fight; only question is who will it benifit, i can see it being an advantage for both of them but itl probably benifit whoevers the least frustrated cause this will be a back n forth war.

  5. Monster says:

as a true mma fan i love this fight. there are two guy who can bang and will put on a show. But as for the ufc i think its the wrong move.the ufc is trying to brake into the main stream by showing people mma is not just a bunch of gang members smashing each other face in but that its a true sport. with nate diaz on the main event the ufc is taking a big risk. they better be ready for a couple of f bombs and birds to be thrown. this is a great fight for people who love mma like me. but this is really not what you want first time mma viewers to watch.. with nick or nate diaz you never know what your going to get from them professional wise. but in the cage they will bring there A game.

  6. Luke'sFather says:

WOWOWOW!! Can’t wait for this one, I expect a war from the start, good back and forth action. I think it’ll be close for the first 2 rounds but Diaz will start picking him apart by the third and will totally dominate the last 2. It’s gonna be a war either way.

  7. zoeldog27 says:

It will be an awesome fight Diaz will have to be at his best cause Miller aint no joke both guys are tough as hell so it”ll be a war! I hope Diaz wins would love to see both Diaz brothers hold the belts! Damn thers gonna be some good fights this year this one Diaz/Condit Evans/Jones Sonnen/Silva 2 Edgar/Henderson Dos Santos/Overeem all i can say is shit its going to cost me a fortune in ppv’s this year but at least there all sick cards!
